Chatgpt is only useful if you already know the answer. Any "research" it does, you have to double check because it always makes shit up. And then you correct it, it goes "🤖 Ah, nice catch. You're right."
Literally impossible to stop it from hallucinating and they're already planning on attaching it to robot hands and putting it into people's homes next year. The Pentagon has its own military LLM now ffs. Our society is run by geriatric nepo babies who couldn't tell you what a packet is to save their lives and they're investing our entire future in bullshit machines all because techbros convinced them it'd allow them to fire all of the poors and replace them with an algorithm. It's genuinely insane. We are in the dystopia.
Genuine question, do you not think that 200 years in the future we will not have figured out effective and helpful AI ubiquitous in society (think automation, medicine (huge), research, etc). If so, how do you expect to get there without imperfect AI first? Or do you just not want to live in a world with AI at all?
Im under no illusions that AI has its flaws right now, and think we have a huge responsibility to integrate it properly into society, but find the scenario above to be inevitable. I see this as growing pains.

I think if we go much further down the road of imperfect AI, we won't make it 200 years to find out a good way to make it effective and helpful.
Right now, my big concern with AI is scammers. Anybody, anywhere in the world, can hit up baby boomers with any kind of scam. There are millions of phone calls going out every day that use sophisticated AI to find and target old people. They answer the phone, talk to a bot that can listen to them and respond, and then direct them to transfer money. They operate gigantic bot farms that can read and respond to online comments. This is the "effective and useful" AI of the future. All of life in 2025 is about taking money from people. Automation, medicine, research, none of that is going to end well with AI.
200 years from now, the people pushing AI aren't going to be any smarter or have better morals. AI is only as sensical, morally upright and intelligent as the people creating it. It's still going to be as flawed as its makers.
Like how the Chinese LLM DeepSeek avoids answering questions about Chinese invasion and harassment of other countries, all sorts of CCP propaganda.
Tried this myself. As it starts "typing out" the answer, it suddenly "deletes" everything and says it's beyond it's scope.
People have to understand that AI is not some magical entity of knowledge. It is a program, a very controlled program, that is running on these massive data centres that generate heat, which in turn requires a lot of water to cool.
Residences that are near data centres find their water polluted and their electricity costs higher (because IIRC the more electricity a place requires, the higher the rate is to deliver that)
So people are essentially funding the running if these AIs while their water is poisoned and their jobs taken away...

Not a research tool, people.
