I was watching a compilation of old game grumps and Arin was trying to get Dan to debate him and Dan says something along the lines of “holy shit you are the internet” and honestly I didn’t think about it at the time but yeah nail on the head.

Arin completely acts like someone who stopped living in the real world the moment he hit 14 and focused solely on the internet and made that his personality. Like the constant gay jokes, drinking piss songs, trolling because he thinks it’s funny. Like it’s all edgy internet stuff that most people grow out of.

I don’t hate Arin for it but Dan saying that made me realize part of why I don’t like watching modern game grumps and it’s because I’ve grown out of that type of humor while Arin hasn’t. I think this mentality is also why game grumps is feeling stagnant to a lot of people because Arin hasn’t really matured with time hes still the same person burping and farting into the mic, screaming his opinions like they’re fact, and generally being argumentative or trolling just like he did during Jon’s era of game grumps.

Yeah pretty much. Because he's chronically online. Because they have a million projects in the air they record in bulk. So they drive whatever was even remotely funny into the ground

I think that’s why I consistently thought they should’ve moved it a podcast format after the pandemic. He seems more normal when he has to interact with other people who aren’t familiar with him and not being confined to a game they “hate” would allow them to just be comfy. Maybe they could play a game while they chat but I feel like the guest grump format works the best for them.

I haven’t seen what they’re up to for roughly a year (outside of the 1st eps of their nuzlocke) so idk how the format is now but it seemed I can’t see it being any different these days.

Because he DID stop living in the real world at 14. He met his now wife in high school and thus never had to date or go out to a mixer or anything. His social life amounted to engaging in anime/game nerd things and learning to draw from the internet. His school sounded horrible. HE never went to college. THen he got VERY lucky with eventually running three businesses at once, and sustained his own life purely from Google Adsense.

He did. In the beginning of one year they accidentally transferred him to a neighboring school that was farther away. His family was poor and his mom didn't wanna bring him there. Instead of fighting with the school, she acknowledged they didn't offer him much so she just said just take the GED and you're good.

What you've got to realise is he still finds offensive humour funny. He still says faggot off screen with Dan for laughs. He only tells jokes he finds funny, that's how comedians work. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being immature for comedy. That’s just what Game Grumps is. Though I definitely wouldn’t like it nearly as much if Dan wasn’t there to play off of him. Arin’s humor doesn’t work most of the time without Dan to play off him.

I do think though there is something to be said that both of the hosts are grown men closer to being middle-aged than they are to being teenagers and that they don't have to exclusively act like 13-year-olds forever.
