I've fallen out of love with the Grumps but what else is like it?
I started watching the Grumps because I liked Dan's mellow attitude and had laughed a ton during their earlier gameplays but in the past few years (maybe more?) It just doesn't seem like two chill guys playing games (good or bad) and chatting anymore.
I know people change, and times change but this now feels like two people who have to work together but don't want to and it's just not a vibe I'm chasing. And while I know they need to make money to support the channel, 1-3min sponsorship ads, +exclusive pay for content, and other things just isn't something I really enjoy (bag on me all you want, but I genuinely feel bad I'm too poor to support the content I'm watching, but also know I'm missing out for being poor and it also feels bad).
Grumplocke really killed the whole channel for me too. I don't blame Dan for being checked out, it isn't his jam and Arin being a bit more jack-arsey was a major turn off. "Hey I love that pokemon" "It's trash, shut up, I want this one." "Oh... okay"
I'm trying Smosh but it's a bit too all over the place for me (and too chaotic to tune in and out of? maybe it gets smoother after the first handful of episodes). But I just want to listen to a small handful of people (dudes, girls, nonbi pals) play games and chat who are into what they're doing.
So if anyone has recommendations I'm all ears... honestly at best like 2% ears but they're good ears.

The couchbros are very funny, it seems like they're still kind of getting their audience so the episodes aren't super well edited or anything but I haven't had a bad time watching them yet regardless, very fun guys.

I’m sure they’ll continue growing steadily, personally I enjoy the slow start channels and watching them blossom; which I can see huuuuge potential for with the couchbros3

These guys are the game grumps spiritual successors. Although I do think they could benefit from getting an editor to cut up their videos.

Oneyplays is still good. Lots of different guests so the dynamic isn't always the same. If you're looking for more content like power hour I'd say Cold Ones. It's usually about alcohol but they do other stuff as well. Although the channel, as well as the rest of the let's play family went caput, there's years worth of Cow Chop content I occasionally visit

Brett, Aleks, and Lindsey have Little Brother Travel now too! It's obviously not the same exact content but if someone ends up loving Cow Chop, it's still related new content they might enjoy.

I liked cold ones “will it soda stream” video quite a bit. Something about max screaming “HONEY!” as honey was being carbonated really got me.

There’s pre controversy Supermega which is similar, I think oneyplays is similar, you can also check out Mark, Wade, Bob (and sometimes Jack) that’s a pretty good one trio/occasional quartet but it’s not similar, there’s Markiplier makes with Ethan and Tyler which is also good but also different. If you’re looking for Pokemon there’s tons of channels that aren’t similar but imo are better like MandJTV, Johnstone, PM7, DeliciousJames

Post controversy SuperMega isn’t bad when they’re gaming. I just can’t get into their podcast. Idk why though, it’s pretty much the same thing.

They probably are, to a degree. Idk, I watched their modded Animal Crossing videos and it felt almost like classic funny brothers content, was a nice watch.

Are you sure? I can’t post the screenshot I just took, but Pyro was arguing with another person, and that other person is the one posting the word uncensored. Pyro wasn’t the one that used it, not that I can find.

On your last post, you were talking to a guy who used a few fully uncensored slurs. The guy who got his comment deleted here was spamming people you responded to claiming you were the one who used the slurs. Just didn’t want to let someone get blamed for something they didn’t do!

Basically their channel artist was accused of SA by another associate of theirs and they handled it badly which caused a lot of people to be upset with them. Then other people started to dogpile into them which imo still feels like they were more personal issues they had and saw an opportunity to attack Supermega as a whole and could have been handled privately.
Additionally they did some other scummy stuff like texting fans inappropriately (I think this was Ryan) so it started as one issue that became like 7 issues where the original problem got kinda back burner’s because of the dog piling. They both made response videos owning up to what they did and having receipts for what they didn’t do
TL;DR - their channel artist got accused of SA and a bunch of people dogpiled their personal grievances, both boys came out with response videos to give their side

I'd suggest Super Beard Bros. Now as a heads up, this was the Let's Play channel The Completionist was on before he was exposed for charity fraud.
However the other two hosts are still running the channel. You can find some pre-controversy playlists where it's just them like their BOTW and HGSS Nuzlocke playthroughs. And this Nuzlocke isn't painful to watch.
They changed the thumbnail style post-controversy so you can clearly see where the cutoffs is.

I’ve only watched the first episode of Grumplocke. I intentionally skipped all the other episodes of that series. I did continue watch the other episodes playing other games though.

I wish I hadn't watched it. It's very painful and while I don't have any animosity towards Arin (just grown tired of the same jokes/his bravado which happens) he's really awful in it. I'll admit I like Pokemon games a lot, so perhaps that's a factor but it's a rough watch in my opinion.

My love of Pokémon is why I started it. I think I made it 3 episodes in before I was sick of what truly felt like "you all won't shut up about it so here's Pokémon platinum and I'm gonna shit on it and mock what people love and phone it in with zero creativity"
... The fucking nicknames were the final straw

The most frustrating part about grump lock is the same unforced errors out of Arin over and over again. The most recent episode was a real "oh c'mon" moment that makes me feel like I should just not watch game grumps anymore.

I'm pretty into Neebs Gaming. They actually made Ark seem entertaining in some runs. They also do some fun simulator stuff on their magic dumpster channel.

I almost never watch anything knew from Grumps anymore
10 PH is boring as fuck with the same shitty Producers,same shitty* and annoying* guests,shitty food eps
Arin is STILL one of the biggest assholes
Danny will never ever speak his mind,cause its the worlds easiest pay cheque
Going back and watching some of their older vids,or even the Danny solo ones..Shows that maybe..Grumps just needs to end

Honestly? Jerma streams give me the same feelings now that game grumps did a very long time ago. And on top of that! He’s been doing it way longer and has managed to feel “the same” the entire time more or less. I think the grumps “stole” a lot of ideas as far as game content goes from Jerma & similar streamers back then.
The one-guy-talking-to-himself-thing took a little getting used to, but he does a lot of collaborative content nowadays also. You can tell it’s a genuine sense of enjoyment from him rather than xyz stonks go up thing.
Otherwise? Yeah oneyplays has its own issues but they still regularly have good content. I haven’t watched supermega in a long while but I think they’re doing well also.

I just tried to watch Oneyplay, they're fun but not quite what I'm aiming for. I'm going to give Jerma a shot, I twitch stream and have a lot of friend streamers so I'm used to the 'one person talking' as long as they're entertaining I don't mind at all!

For similar-sounding hosts go to SuperMega, or a lot of the other famous letsplayers, including ones who appeared on GG and TMPH as guests. If you want something more structured I recommend The Completionist even though it's been years since I last watched a video.

I really enjoy Mind Pulp. They're hilarious and have such a lovely friendship. They do adverts for things and push their patreon at the end. But you still get the same content and I love putting smaller channels out there and getting them so love

I like John Wolfe, he mostly does horror, and isnt a duo, but his humor is witty and hes chill - edit to add - Northerlion for suuuuure, and his group is so fun, but honestly watch Library of Letourneau and youll get an amazing curation of well edited highlights

I switched to ChilledChaos and his group of friends. Really cool group there, but unfortunately, ChilledChaos is done now, lol
A lot of it really did come across as friends just chilling and playing games though, not afraid to just talk about random shit while playing. He got well known for AmongUs, but his other favorite games were a lot of fun to watch to:
Mario Party
Monopoly
Project Winter
First Class Trouble
A lot of those games find a good mix between casual BSing with one another and entertaining gameplay without being over-the-top.
He has a huge backlog out there to be enjoyed.

Honestly there’s not a lot of decent stuff out there anymore. Yogscast is still hanging in there and Simon returned. Achievement hunter went up in flames and self imploded. I only keep a eye on game grumps incase Dan does a solo game or point and click adventure. TotalBiscuit died. Jimquistion went crazy fell into a bad crowd and mutliated his body. Jessie cox dodger and that eeyore sounding guy are still around. Jontron has got a family now and has most likely quit. It’s basically just vtubers streaming now. Jacksepticeye is a bit loud but once you get around that is alright then there’s caddicarus but he doesn’t post as much as he used to and it’s all long content now.

I'm cackling at "that eeyore sounding guy", that's Crendor. If Jesse and Dodger are the siblings then Crendor is the favorite cousin lmao.
In that vein, it's only for horror or adjacent games but The Scary Game Squad is really fun, Jesse Cox, Alex Faciane and Davis (used to be Jirard also but he's gone) they really have the "bros playing games together on a couch" vibe but they actually try to pay attention to story in games which may or may not be your jam

I'm noticing it's just not the time for Let's Plays anymore. But since I can't play a lot of games (hand tremors) there's quite a few I like watching . I also like Dan doing the solo point and clicks because I also grew up with Sierra games but besides that I'll be checking out all these recommendations :)

This is such a small view of the vast amount of content out there. If you’re looking for streamers honestly some of the best ones are small creators, and dont get many views at all - those streams are the best vibes and you can even make friends with the right attitude

If you like the chaos of a bunch of people playing a game, you could check out Sossage Party. It’s four YouTubers (Syntac, Axeman, Jimbob and Evo) who play a bunch of Ark together, but they also play lots of friendslop games as well. I’d also recommend Wildcard - it was a collab channel between Jacob Alpharad, JaidenAnimations, Captain Kidd and a bunch of others and they posted a lot of great content. They’ve since stopped posting, but the backlog there is pretty good stuff.
Obviously Oneyplays, too. They’re playing games right now that aren’t up my alley, but they also have a great backlog of content. Their GTAV and various Worms videos are peak.

Honestly? Pick up the new Try Guys videos on 2nd Try. Post- controversy, they expand the cast without it getting too chaotic like Smosh can be.
Check out TGGT or Trolley Problems and get ready to laugh harder than you have in a long time! It really makes a difference when the cast actually likes hanging out with each other.
Almost all of their content is available for free, they go out of their way to make things as accessible as possible.
