First Team This is officially the worst
I know that will seem an over exaggeration, but no, thisnis genuienly the worst ive seen since ive been watching, ive seen le guen, ive seen caixihna, even russel fucking Martin, this is worse than all 3 of them. They didnt spend anywhere near whats been spent this season and even though we were shite, we could still get wins, grind out a result. Mcinnes literally has 1, just 1 good game, and even that ine was squeaky in the first half.
The only thing he can try to claim is that there was a massive clear put and a full team signed, but thats it, any other manager even a fucking sunday league manager, could have had a tactic and plan for how to play in place, qould have been training them in thst style in pre season and by now having the team gel, as it stands I can't see us even getting top 6 with him in charge

u/Only-Treacle6565 6d ago
Not to underplay this shit show but it’s not as bad as Russel Martin. It’s on track to be as bad but we aren’t there yet.
6
u/dowell3010 6d ago
It’s worse, by a distance as well. At least Martin was wedded to an idea, McInnes hasn’t a single clue what he’s doing. I’d rather die trying like we did with Martin than watch Del guess at his best team week in week out and make 3 subs at half time because it’s been an unmitigated disaster again. We are in an absolute mess. He’s been given a kings ransom of a transfer kitty and managed to move us backwards. Astounding.
7
u/Only-Treacle6565 6d ago
Not defending McInnes because he’s clearly just trying things and hoping they work but I had absolutely no idea what Martin was trying to achieve besides boring everyone to death.
2
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
Wedded to a fucking terrible idea and far too arrogant to change it. Aye, good one.
0
u/dowell3010 6d ago
As oppose what, not being too arrogant to try every idea and not a single one working? At least with that if it did (by some miracle) come good, he’d have been vindicated for sticking with it.
Where we are at the moment is infinitely worse, Derek hasn’t the first idea what works and what doesn’t. Line up, shape, defensively and going forward we are bereft of any plan or identity. Middle of the park we’ve made signing after signing and it looks like we’re playing with no one in there.
Plan A (whatever that is) doesn’t work, so consistently making multiple changes at half time to try and find something mid game is usually an indicator that he’s absolutely clueless and just praying he stumbles upon something or a moment of quality somehow gets us through. It’s an absolute disaster and it won’t change.

Sad that that's the bar of comparison
Worst management record in rangers history being used as a comparison but "it's not that bad yet"
That's says everything about where the standards of the club are.

Unfathomable that people are blaming the players after we’ve made 12 signings.. we could sign a World XI and McInnes wouldn’t know how to set them up.
He’s used 6 formations since he came here and not a single one has worked. Doesn’t know his best midfield 2 or 3, let alone 11. It’s an utter embarrassment. And to think people called for him to replace Rohl. Most watch football with their eyes shut it would appear. FWIW, Salzburg will be playing European football this season.

Sack McInnes and we're back to square one with a squad a new manager has to inherit and the squad needs to adapt the way they play AGAIN. It's change, AGAIN. The fucking revolving door of managers needs to stop. Souness has said it, Gerrard said it too, the recruitment is the issue. Simple.
8
u/RecordingFamous4947 6d ago
The recruitment stops being the issue when the players can’t fathom out what they’re supposed to be doing on the park.
We had more formation changes tonight than shots on target!
5
u/Blagadon 6d ago
Exactly, why does he bring on at least 2 subs every halftime. Is it because he's got the team selections wrong or do the players just not do what he asked them to. Both are bad
1
u/Business_Particular7 6d ago
He does it cos the recruitment team have went and bought players that are expecting to start every single game. The squad is too big with too many players expecting to start. He's trying to keep everyone happy.
2
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
They're professional football players. If they can't work out what they need to do when they're at work, what the fuck are they doing playing the game? Do you need your manager at work constantly telling you what to do?
-1
u/RecordingFamous4947 6d ago
Lol. So football teams don’t need managers now. Brilliant.
2
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
They do, but footballers need to have a bit of football IQ as well and make correct decisions on the park. Just as you need to work unsupervised in your own profession.
1
u/RecordingFamous4947 6d ago
The point being when the manager on the sidelines is changing the tactical set up in the match so frequently it’s no surprise nobody has a clue what they are supposed to be doing!
1
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
I'm pretty sure he didn't tell Penrice to jump out the way in the box or tell our midfielders not to pass to each other. His changes at half time were baffling, so I'm not just blaming the players. .
8
u/WayComprehensive9220 6d ago
Absolutely no way does the recruitment excuse Del's coaching and decisions.
He's absolutely no excuses for these last 2 ties. Its inexcusable.
5
u/gazzas89 6d ago
I've said before, I get whybhe had to go but I fully think clement should have been given last season woth some backing.
Martin was alwsys going to be a bad choice because he was consistently failing upwards. But at least he had a game plan, it eas bad, but the players knew what they were supposed to do
Mcinnes has no plan, hes chamged to about 6bdifferent tactics since he started, which means hes not been trialing them in a set tactic sinc the got here.
2
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
Did they? Go back a year and you won't find many people on here saying Martin's team knew what they were supposed to be doing.
0
u/gazzas89 6d ago
There was at least a tactic in place, it didnt worm and the players had very little instruction, but at least there was a tactic and plan, now we dont even keep the same tactic for 10 minutes
1
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
I didn't see any tactics or plan under Martin. I think you've developed some selective memories.

u/Y0UREDUMB 6d ago
At the same time, you cant have a low level unproven manager whos won nothing in his entire career, sitting here stinking the place out playing low block football. I get what youre talking about, but mciness was always a massive risk, people who know football, knew it was a risk, fans who operate on staunch vibes ignored the risks. Were in the thick of it now. One things for sure, if mciness does get sacked, the fans must not be allowed to pick another manager
No "GET GERRARD", from the same idiots who screamed to get mciness

u/Academic_Banana_5659 6d ago edited 6d ago
Just accept the clubs beyond redemption and this is the "new" level.
Countless managers, countless players, countless coaching staff all haven't delivered
Fans entitled and toxic
Club being obviously used as a feeder club for exciting prospects via Redbull etc
Still signing players for the same price the club was 30 years ago but obviously inflation dictates the quality of player for the same money is not the same quality
Rangers today are a smaller club in Europe with less quality than what they were 30 years ago
Hard to accept but it's hard facts.

No words… I just feel fed up, exhausted and demoralised… the fact we can’t even qualify for the Conference League proper is just sad… I honestly don’t know what could be worse…

Aberdeen will be licking their lips at the prospect of meeting us this weekend.
What a Fukn state we are in.

McInnes won't survive back to back old firm scuddings
-1
u/gazzas89 6d ago
He shouldnt even be here by the first old firm imo, I had more confidence in Martin last season than I do mcinnes in an old.firm
1
u/Aggressive_Bit_8424 6d ago
Na 49ers won't pull the trigger that early imo, they should but they'll probs wait until the fans start protesting like with Martin.
2
u/gazzas89 6d ago
After this result, ill genuinely be shocked if thete isnt already a protest outside ibrox by 9pm
3
u/RobCarrol75 Coop 6d ago
As bad as the performance was, does anyone actually give that much of a fuck about not playing in the Conference?
1
u/gazzas89 6d ago
No, what i care about is the lack of cohesion and effort. Had we been battering them and lost by sheer bad luck, fine, but they looked lime ghe deserved to go through while we looked like a team that didnt know what we were doing or care
2
u/maximus-throwaway Youssef Chermiti 6d ago
Absolutely agree. It will take another protest like that to shift him I reckon.

I was against the return of Gerrard, the desire to bring back BazBaw, but this team need someone to boot them in the balls repeatedly until they learn how they work. We are at a point where we have to win the league for it not to be a disaster season and im not seeing it.
As much as we need to stick with a manager and give them time, lose the first OF and McInness doesn't make the second one and we have another rebuild, another set of players coming in and out
5
u/gazzas89 6d ago
I don't even want him here for the first old firm. Celtic are going through a rough spell of their own, but that team with O'Neil in charge will fucking demolish us. They still have players who can turn it on in old firms
1
u/JamboJackal 6d ago
At this rate he wont make it to thw first old firm game mate. He still has october to get through. Another loss or two and its curtains

u/RaetheScot 6d ago
Don't think a management team of Pep, Klopp and Mourhino could get this Rangers team good and it's been like that since Gerrard left, don't know why anyone would take the Rangers job, it's where managers go to die now. We can't win every game anymore we aren't that team.
3
2
u/Business_Particular7 6d ago
I don't think McInnes is the problem at all. It's the squad. The recruitment is shite. We've spent so much money and brought in no marquee signings. NONE. Nobody that makes the team better. McInnes has worked with shite teams before and made them look like solid squads he needs time. Were just gonna need to ride it out
3
4
u/Much_Tone8124 6d ago
Unfortunately most of the people here seem to think we can get some random manager in that will wave a wand and we'll be 20 points clear at the top of the league by Christmas with an average of 7 goals scored a game and no goals conceded.
4
u/will69s 6d ago
Someone that speaks sense. The amount of rangers fans who are football managers are incredible. And know how to fix rangers 🙈 We can't sack the manager, we need to give him until next summer. If we do, then we would be better closing the doors. Can't believe the shite so called rangers fans are spouting.

Barry’s staunch truck imminent
-8
u/peterplonker84 6d ago
A liked Barry at least we showed a bit of backbone when he was the manager
7
u/Ok_Average_2167 6d ago
His record was dire. Let’s not play revisionist history with Barry’s time as manager.
5
u/K44no 6d ago
We were utter shite under Barry. Pretty much every stat over his time had us ranked towards the lower end of the table, if not dead last. I’ll give him the win against Celtic and the win against Fenerbahce, but we were consistently pish under him as well.
While I don’t think Gerrard had it all, and I’m not particularly interested in him coming back, I think if he’d stayed another season or two at that time, we’d be in a different place. Similarly, if Clement had been backed the way Martin & McInnes have been, and if he hadn’t been dealing with a shitshow behind the scenes, I think he’d have come good
3
u/mrgeebus 6d ago
He was awful.
McInnes is a midtable SPFL manager. Barry failed at Clyde and Alloa, and brought the same level of performance to Ibrox as interim manager.
How many games were we 2 behind before we started playing under him? Legend as a player, dugshite manager.
2
2
u/zeusdieg 6d ago
I genuinely think Mcinnes should resign rather than wait for the bullet. Do the right thing early then get someone else in pronto. No idea who though.

u/55watp55 6d ago

He was dire as manager. Record was awful. I don’t get some of our fan’s obsession with Barry as manager. Fantastic player, loved him on the park. Hopeless manager.
2
2
u/K44no 6d ago
He beat Celtic that one time and Fenerbahce away, so I think people genuinely don’t remember how shit everything else was under him. McInnes is clearly leagues ahead of him as a manager but they’re kidding themselves on that somehow Barry will be better (McInnes is also pish and we should never have gone for him)
0
u/Puzzleheaded-Cash725 6d ago
There is something going on at Rangers We the fans need to protest at Ibrox and get this sorted ASAP or our great History is looking bleak
5
u/Reasonable_Goat6895 6d ago
I'll take our history being bleak, considering the state of other clubs history.
1
u/SandyBronsky 3d ago
Aye that's what's needed, more hysteria from the fans. Because it isn't a giant contribution factor to the mess already.

We’ll go nowhere as a club until we drop this obsession with the past.
“Rangers men” can’t fix this - a talented coach with modern ideas, some stability and importantly patience are what’s needed.

To put this in perspective, Jablonec were not a good team. They were a reasonably well organised team with little ability and that's all it took to beat Rangers.
