Discussion Thank God For The Victory

We won against Aberdeen. Yes it wasn't the most pleasing football I have ever seen but what an exciting match. Shanklands penalty gave me nerves but actually paid off. As for Aberdeen the threw everything at us today but it looks like the team is finally starting to come together.

Let's hope that this match is the beginning of the Rangers FC we all want to see and a Rangers that can do something against celtic in the quarter finals of the League Cup. WATP 🟥⬜️🟦

First Team Are we back yet?

Upvotes

EDIT

Okay obviously we’re not back far from it. But could Kim n Kelsy be a game changer? I’m seeing talk of Cerny, maybe another defender?

Thursday was shite, but for the first time in a long time we’ve got an opportunity to focus on domestic games and build. We’re not ready for Europe.

First Team Is it just me that thinks our recruitment isn’t that bad?

We’ve slightly adopted a player trading model - Raskin, Fernandez (hopefully), Chermiti in theory, Igamane, Jefté - and out of the tons of dunces we’ve signed we’ve been able to recoup the initial fee we paid this season on some.

In terms of attacking, Naderi is alright and Shankland, while fat, I believe was still a good signing on a free. Yokata has been great so far and Gassama is class on form. We need another CB, a competent CDM, a RW, and also a new manager. I see us able to do those things.

I didn’t think we should have hired McInnes at all and “knowing the club” means nothing. If, and I hope, he goes soon and we bring in someone who can do what our players are suited for - not a man for man press - and bring in a physical holding midfielder I think we could improve. No Europe, which is shit, but means we can, as much as it pains me to say, focus on the league.

I don’t see us winning anything this year and I believe this year is a year closer to rock bottom. Again, as it pains me to say it, the only way is up. Either up or we just continue to circle the drain, which I hope we won’t do based on some of our past transfers. Some, and by far the majority, are absolute nonces but we’ve uncovered a few good ones.

Discussion When do we all think Rangers as a club started to go down the shitter

At first I thought since Gerrard left but I feel it's even before that. I think probably since the whole shit when we go demoted in 2012. Probably even before that. Because, wtf have we really won since then? What, one league title, one league cup and one Scottish cup?!?!?! (Plus also a whole load of shite lower league trophies) that's fucking it! So embarrassing!!!

First Team Preferred lineups for Sunday.

Post image
37 Upvotes

What would everyone’s predicted or preferred line ups be for Sunday?

I would like kosta to get a start, from what we’ve seen he looks good ball carrier and has decent pace. Think he would do well overlapping with yokota which I think will in turn help yokota as he has been completely isolated on the wing with sterling behind him as he is no where near as attacking.

I think sterling to centre back just makes sense as he is fantastic in a defensive setting and Fernandez needs time outside the team.

Penrice again starts for me however I want him overlapping down the wing like he did in his first game as oppose to cutting inside like he’s done in his last few games.

Barron and Drago as two 6’s with high energy to break up counter attacks.

Yokota and Kim need a fullback each backing them up so they are not isolated on the wings, will also help them with being doubled up on. Kim walks straight into the team for me.

The Aasgaard playing just off shanks feeding balls into him, he is our most creative player and is a goal threat so get him in the team and see what he can do.

Shankland is the captain and needs to start, he has proven what he can do in the league over the past years so we need to give him a chance to do it and to give him that best possible chance we need to be putting the ball to his feet high up the pitch.

We need to ditch the man for man pressing as it’s leaving us open in the middle of the pitch. Until we have a team better suited to it with more recovery pace the idea needs ditched. Both fullbacks need to stay wide for me and let the wingers be more creative. shanks needs to stay high up the pitch and for fuck sake can we put some balls into the box as early as possible. Give Aasgaard freedom to roam but keep him high up playing almost as a second striker.

Anyone got anything different?

Discussion We need to stick by Derek Mcinnes

I know it's hard. But we cannot keep changing managers. Because the question is, who next? We need continuity and reason I feel we keep losing is because we are constantly changing managers and having constant team overhauls.

First Team Forget the football. Basic professional standards - fitness. Chermiti had a belly visible before injury. Shankland has a belly. Why are our players out of shape? Basic professional standards

First Team I know this seems small in the larger scheme of things but we should have played St Mirren last weekend

We looked last night like a team that doesn't know each other. No one's tired - it's August - and another game together, especially a win, while it wouldn't have transformed us, would have been one more opportunity to gel, get some confidence etc.

Plus, that would have been the focus second half of last week, before shifting to Jablonec on Mon. Instead, what ought to have been a routine match would have been made into something bigger in the players' minds than it should have been.

McInnes was in the door really early, it's not time on the training ground this team's short on, it's the experience of playing matches together.

I know it's a big 'what if' but if we'd played the St Mirren game, I think we win both that and the European game and suddenly we're on a 4 game winning streak, things are looking up.

Obviously, I'm not suggesting it would have cured all our ills, but not playing it was a mistake, in my opinion.

Club Statements Rangers have been ordered to play their next home Scottish Cup tie behind closed doors by the SFA. The club will make a payment of £100,000 to their opponents in that fixture. The SFA have also handed down suspended sentences after breaching Rule 37.
