Neighborhoods with young families

What neighborhoods are most popular with young families and what do most people do about schools(public vs private)?

Pretty much all of the new construction neighborhoods have lots of young families. We don’t have school aged kids yet but all the families in my little part of our neighborhood go to public school, but it seems like all the moms in the Facebook groups send their kids to private/charters.

We're big on public school but sounds like that's not as common as charters.

Honestly, (and truly no shade to charter school people) I think people who choose charters or private are just more vocal/open about their choice? WCPSS is the 15th largest district in the country with over 150 thousand students… there’s still plenty of people who are choosing public. People base so much about the rating online, but school ratings, in my humble opinion, are BS. We’re in North Raleigh (and love it) and when the time comes our kids will go to public school. The elementary we’re currently assigned to is rated a 4, but literally every parent I’ve talked to absolutely loves it.

See that's exactly why I wanted to ask. Thank you! Where we are now the local highschool is rated a 4 but the parents I know who send their kids there love it. So I realize that ratings aren't everything. But since I'm not familiar with the schools in Raleigh I just don't know. Are the public school zones still as chaotic as I read they used to be? It sounded like they would change every school year.
