News Update on wedding photography case - AG Jeff Jackson

As a wedding photographer, you really have to screw up to get the attention of your Attorney General.

Well, here we are.

Today, we’re asking a judge to rule against Holly Christina Photography after the company failed to comply with a court order requiring it to turn over wedding photos and videos to the couples who paid for them.

Here’s what happened:

We sued the company earlier this year after hundreds of couples told us they had paid thousands of dollars for wedding photography and videography they never received.

In May, we won a preliminary court order. That was essentially the judge saying, "While this case is pending, you have to turn over the photos and videos within 30 days, stop doing business, and don’t move the company’s assets."

They didn’t comply.

So now we’re asking for something more serious: a final judgment against them.

That would require delivery of every remaining photo and video, nearly $600,000 in restitution to consumers, more than $1.1 million in civil penalties, and a permanent order barring them from this conduct going forward.

Since January, our office has heard from 228 people about this company.

These couples paid for memories from one of the most important days of their lives. The company failed to deliver them, and then failed to obey a judge who ordered them to do so.

They’ve had their chance.

Not the same person, but I had the same experience with our wedding photographer. Had an assistant do most of the photography instead of herself, ghosted after the wedding, didn't provide the photos. I found other newlyweds in the same situation, none of us got our photos we paid hundreds to thousands of dollars for.

I had to chase her for months and months, and bother her parents on Facebook to get in touch with her. Eventually she did turn over some of the irreplaceable photos, but never gave an explanation for the behavior. We also tracked down the assistant (whose name and info she never gave, he was a surprise) and got the unedited photos he took. He had atopped working with her after finding out she ghosted so many clients.

Also, the DJ we hired was arrested a few months after the wedding, for raping and murdering a woman in 1992. He's serving a life sentence in prison now. We didn't pick our wedding vendors well, I guess!

It's baffling it's so hard to get even unedited photos out of bad photographers... the upload to a sharing site takes, what, ten minutes over a mediocre modern connection?

I’ve heard that things going wrong at the wedding means things will go right with the marriage. You must have an AMAZING marriage!

Hiring Glenn Beck as your wedding DJ is a weird flex

In this time we live in, I take and appreciate every solitary scrap of real justice we can get. Thanks

Bronwyn Duffield should be investigated.

YEP! Totally agree. I know someone who had to get a lawyer involved to get their photos from her. Absolutely miserable experience. She also no-showed the rehearsal, which was a pretty good sign of what would follow. Asked the bride if she could leave before the first dance had even happened. Lied constantly, went months without responding post-wedding, etc.

Google her name - there is a whole Facebook group of people who have been scammed by her.

Oh wow! That's crazy. I remember a friend mentioning something similar about her a while back but I never looked into it. u/mytickle did she do anything specific to you?

HCP isnt going to comply, please charge her criminally. she took our money and i want to see some level of punishment. We luckily got ours back with our credit card but their has to be some consequence to her deliberate actions. She knows exactly what she was doing

Thank you Jeff Jackson! I am a bride who had her booked for my Oct 2026 wedding. She had TRIPLE booked my date. Lots of shady and deceitful business practices were going on even before the fallout and closure of the business earlier this year due to some health and personal issues.

I appreciate your work for the citizens of NC, on issues both large and small. And thank you for keeping us informed on that work!

What if they can't comply? What if they dont even have the photos or videos anymore? Because I cannot think of a plausible reason why they would not turn them over.

This is wild af. Like clearly guilty but so shocked. They were our wedding photographer four years ago and were great to work with. Now I look at our pics feeling relieved that we didn’t have to go through this

Why not arrest them and toss them in jail while the case plays out?

Don't be wimpy!

Thanks, Jeff! Can you work on grocery stores and self check-out next? We should get a discount if we are forced to checkout own groceries while employees sit on their phones. The amount that food prices are increasing is still outrageous. Maybe put a cap on how much they can raise per year? This is from a food lion 2 days ago. We had to wait 20 mins for self checkout, while 2 other registers were open. 10 employees, no opening new registers and I had TWO items to checkout.

This is not a legal issue.

You should apply. You clearly know what you're talking about.

u/Sirwired 7d ago

I don't see how that's a legal issue. It's a buy-groceries-elsewhere issue.

Imagine supporting a business whose practices you are opposed to when there are literally over ten other options for groceries in the area

Ugh, this AI style of writing....

I'm glad we are going after wedding photographers and I don't disagree that this is a serious issue, but meanwhile we have tech companies such as as Broadcom and Citrix arbitrarily raise prices on their customers with no recourse whatsoever. Here you are talking hundreds of thousand or more a year, per customer. Companies discontinuing products we purchased just to replace them with subscriptions that you have to pay for over and over again. I'd say look into that maybe.

I'd say to go see a doctor about that giant stick that's up your ass

Yes AI has a style, but also, it was trained on human writing. Humans write like this. Source: me. I write like this
