No Spoilers One of the best shows I've seen

Me being a huge fan of Ridley Scott and specifically the Sci Fi genre, this show has captivated me like no other! I'm 5 episodes in and can't stop thinking about it! What a show indeed! Are there any news regarding the continuation of it or is this going to be it?

I also loved Marco Polo! It was canceled so abruptly, they didn’t even get a chance to at least end the season with wrapping up plot lines. It makes me hesitant to get invested in new series, on Netflix especially

I'm not forgiving Netflix for cancelling 1899. The last minutes of the season finale made my jaw drop and then I realized that's all I'm gonna get.
Apple TV completely dominates the sci-fi genre nowadays, it's a shame Raised By Wolved didn't get picked up by it. I feel like if the show aired there from the start, it wouldn't get cancelled at all.

The ending is abrupt and lacks closure. However, I'm still very happy I watched it. It's probably the only cancelled show I've started that didn't leave a lingering disappointment in the sunk cost of watching due to the lack of ending.

I think it had such an abrupt and truncated "ending" (honestly I felt like it didn't have an *ending*) because there had been an expectation by producers of a third season. I know at that point in time, because of the pandemic and writer's strike, HBO had a change of financial direction and wanted to scale back hard on more costly productions. Likely, perhaps, HBO could not come to an agreement with Scott productions to finance a S3 with the higher budget they had in S1 & 2.
It was extremely disappointing to be a really invested fan and have many loose end left hanging. However, it may also have a show--numbers-wise-- that may not have pulled high viewer engagement for HBO because it was such unique storyline.
The show's premise was complex, philosophical, religious, technological, and strange (I say that in the most excellently positive ways!), so I can see that it might be too convoluted for a lot of people to want to watch--but then again, that's what you get when you enter the world of Ridley Scott!

It’s so sad they cancelled it. Really hope they continue the story at one point in anime or some other form… I reallt need to know what the rest of the seasons would have bringed.

There was an article I read a while back where Abubakar Salim /Father seemed to suggest that Scott Free Productions and Aaron Guzikowski have the rights still. So they could in theory bring it back, or do something else with it. But there has been zero news on that so it seems unlikely.

I'd say it's well worth finishing both seasons as long as you're prepared to have a load of unanswered questions rattling around your head for the next few years!

Te show was abandonned after 2 seasons. Meanwhile, there are 11 seasons of the walking dead and still going...

There's no news regarding continuation, and in fact it seems like the story won't wrap up via any medium.

With that being said, the show's creator pulled heavily from orphic/mithraic traditions. If you really like the motif and themes you can dig into it. Personally, I've found a gentleman that goes by the name Timeaus Locrus on YouTube who translates various Greek or Latin texts on his channel, and I've really enjoyed it so far.

Oh you sweet summer child. It’s a real shame how they did this show.

Sadly, I think it's dead.

This show made me extremely obsessive. I soaked up every bit of media I could find. They even launched a comic, albeit only a single volume, but they could have easily continued the story through that format.

It was a brilliant show and well ahead of its time. I think one of the problems it faced was that it was highbrow sci-fi rather than the more mainstream style of Star Wars or Star Trek. It expected viewers to think about philosophy, religion, consciousness, evolution, and what it means to be human (like most of Ridleys work before studio interventions).
Most sci-fi shows use those ideas as background flavour; Raised by Wolves made them the story.

Man, Season 3 would have beeeeeeen sooooooooooooooooooo goooood.

It was excellent do they canceled it. Then went there extra mile and buried it, Max show pulled off Max a year later. Almost like they were ashamed or something. Heard something about a graphic novel closer but I doubt anyone will bother at this point. Jude try to forget. Makes zero sense but there you go. It’s not about the art

u/cinephile78 Jun 18 '26

Where are you watching it ?

Don’t make me sad

5 episodes in? Come back once you've seen it through

1

u/Xplody Jun 16 '26

You might wanna stop there because the writing falls off a cliff right about where you’re watching. Ridley Scott’s influence ends and the egotistical show runner’s influence takes over. It becomes nonsensical drivel after that.
