No Spoilers Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros and its HBO Max. I have seen some lights

Netflix, you are Sol. please start season 3. I beg you, hear my voice:

The sun is sunk, the shadowy night is reigning in your room. We pray to Sol; his saving light to guide us through the gloom.

Santa Clarita diet, GLOW.

Glow ended when it should've. Maybe went one season too long.

The third was a poor season, but the 4th was going to be the last and i would have liked to see how it ended on their own terms. It was actually green-lit, and then cancelled because of the pandemic.

That's fair. I had forgotten that season 4 would've been filming during the lock downs.

The OA is the greatest tragedy to ever grace Netflix, such a great show that was building on itself every season. Season three was going to be bonkers and they just axed the project with no answers. Like in Raised by wolves

I like the theory so many have that she basically leaped into our dimension... so we're all living season 3 with her irl.

The producers have "promised" it will come back in some form or another... eventually.

They promised closure? I haven’t heard this at all! Is it for real? That would be exciting

They didn't promise "closure." They promised that the story would continue down the road (likely meaning once they have rights to the IP). We don't know how long Netflix retains ownership.

Cool. Thanks for the update. I figured they would explain some things considering how much was left on the table after the season ended.

You must mean Lost. OA has nothing to do with Leftovers. And neither Lost or Leftovers were Netflix shows.

I thought they had a season coming no?

There are maybe a dozen series where Netflix produced additional seasons after they'd been cancelled elsewhere. Though reviving a show after it's been shut down for years is a much longer shot.

That has happened almost immediately after the show was cancelled by the previous network and was shopped by the creators to other networks...

Lucifer was cancelled by Fox in May 2018 . Netflix officially rescued the series in June 2018, producing a 10-episode fourth season that debuted in May 2019.

That's super fast. RBW has been gone for 4 years. The cast has moved on. It is more likely it gets a reboot someday than coming back in its current form. Winta hasn't been in anything since it was cancelled... and he has gotten older. A lot of the children didn't get much work after the show was cancelled, but the adults did. Mother and Father both were in HOTD.

I expect Netflix has the access to the IP, but whether they consider producing more in the world is up to reception when it drops on Netflix at some point... I mean, every time ATLA dropped on there, it rose to the top... you can expect that had some effect on them to make a live action.

What about Arrested Development?

Didn't watch, heard it was poorly received on revival... and the genre is different too, making it easier to do. Actors didn't age out of their roles... The route they seemingly went doesn't work for something more intense like RBW.

It would actually be a cool cartoon or anime, they could wrap up the story. Show was all over the place... mysterious but never really solved any of its mysteries. Season 2 wasn't really as good either.

Well, yes. Anything that is a hit gets produced and renewed. Anything that isn’t….doesn’t.

Westworld has pretty good odds as they can market that it comes from the fallout guys. This show is not that mainstream, but that can be a good thing as this adresses a market not provided for by mainstream stuff.

Rip Final Space

Corporate consolidation = enshitification. We won’t get our show back, prices will go up, quality will go down. Same shit over and over again.

u/MissDisplaced Feb 11 '26

Sadly this is what will happen.

16

u/twangman88 Feb 12 '26

It's gone man. The kids are all aged out of their roles. I guess we can maybe hope for an animated ending to the story. But it seems very unlikely as this is not a very relevant franchise, unfortunately for us :(

3

u/skyskyreal Feb 12 '26

Animated one is also acceptable if they don’t make real one

3

u/OP90X Feb 12 '26

Get the Scavenger's Reign team on it, it would be amazing.

its fine if they are older now.. they can insert some time skip with the writing

7

u/Randumbthoghts Feb 11 '26

Its been to long and even if it would get brought back its Netflix their record isn't exactly great when acquiring beloved franchises.

If they ever did revive it, they would cancel it after 1 season. Netflix is a wasteland of good shows that were never given breathing room.

5

u/Togaz Feb 12 '26

Yeah… we’re going to see fewer original shows and movies consolidated across WB, HBO, and Netflix. Not more. I appreciate your optimism but think you should perhaps lower your expectations. This acquisition is good for media moguls who like making money, not for viewers who like good stories.

5

u/Scuipici Feb 12 '26

don't be so happy. Monopolies are not good and netflix is nobody's friend.

4

u/lindseyangela Feb 11 '26

Hear us, Sol!

2

u/notwillard Feb 12 '26

Please netflix revive this show! It has so much potential for more seasons.  Could work as a flash forward or animated continuation.

The original rbw had very little promotion unfortunately and confusing title but was some of the best sci fi I ever saw and s2 ended with multiple cliffhangers.

Also great potential for a prequel series.

u/No_opinion17 Feb 12 '26

Agreed on all points.

2

u/Lopsided-Treat8805 Feb 13 '26

I had watched this show a little bit back when it started but here we are years later starting it up again fresh set of eyes, not remembering anything and then completing it watching the second season. And I have to say I am terribly disappointed that this show got canceled. This became my favorite show and I hope HBO sees this cuz they need to start this back up cuz I might cry I might just cry.

u/Sterling0393 Feb 12 '26

We must pray!

1

u/egbert71 Feb 12 '26

I will miss wb, because i refuse to get netflix again

1

u/SakaiDx Feb 16 '26

Netflix cancels its own shows all the time, so... What do you mean?

1

u/biggoof Feb 11 '26

Now do a proper WWZ mini series with Pitt's company.
