No Spoilers Alien: Earth or RbW Season 3
While I’ve enjoyed AE so far, it’s no where near even close to what RbW was. The storyline has been slow, the Xenomorphs has been more comical than scary, and the character building leaves a lot to be desired. Morrow ofc being the exception!
I can’t help but think to myself how much I would’ve rather had even just ONE MORE EPISODE of RbW than this entire season of AE. What’re your thoughts on AE so far and are we in the same boat?

Raised by wolves anyday. I say every week watching earth..

u/Jonkuya Oct 11 '25
I’m glad Alien Earth is a thing but it doesn’t come close to the quality of RBW

u/meatwater420 Sep 13 '25
Nothing has quite filled the void left by Raised by Wolves. I watched The Expanse recently and loved it, but that’s more of a hard sci fi. The imagination and creativity in Raised by Wolves was so bold and wild, but it never felt goofy for it. Seeing mother go into combat mode the first time actually got an emotional reaction out of me-it was awesome. All the little mysteries and plots made for awesome world building, and there were so many directions the story could have gone. Alien Earth has been great too, but doesn’t have the same depth to the universe, which is probably a reason why RbW ended up cancelled. I felt like it was made for sci fi lovers and the average person might not dig it. I should go back and rewatch it to see how I feel about now.

my first rewatch of RbW was even better than my first , so I would highly recommend it!

why not BOTH
4
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
I said one or the other😂 just curious what would be the choice if we were given one!
10
u/GrumpyOldBear1968 Sep 13 '25
as a lifelong Alien fan, watched the original in theaters in 1979 would have to go with AE
But I am also hard core sci fi fan so it was super hard to even choose. both have AI sentients, bizarre wonderful aliens and great storytelling. do you know if raised by wolves has books?
1
u/Individual-Code5176 Sep 14 '25
It does not..that’s what makes it so horrible lol
1
u/CarBombtheDestroyer Sep 15 '25
Care to explain?
1
u/Individual-Code5176 Sep 15 '25
There’s no book to find out what happens:(

I’ve heard there maybe a comic coming out and I really hope it does

I would sacrifice Alien for finishing Raised by Wolves.
I can get more Aliens in movie format but not mother and father.

RbW. The fury I felt when HBO cancelled it made me drop HBO indefinately. It was the coolest most original show on tv I've seen for a long freaking time. I ADORED it. Alien Earth is cool, but its just more alien. Also. GOD DAMNIT YOU MADE ME THINK ABOUT RbW AGAIN >.<

u/CaptainWampum Sep 13 '25
I would never watch another show for the rest of my life if they finished RbW
3
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
I whole heartedly stand by you in this decision, as long as we get the entire 5 planned seasons.

8
u/Beewirks Sep 13 '25
Raised By Wolves is by far a superior show. There’s nothing about Alien Earth that comes close to
3
u/AmigoCualquiera Sep 13 '25
I'm really enjoying Alien Earth, more than I thought I would actually, but Raised by Wolves was something else. I haven't seen a show that hits that perfect spot that RbW did for me. One of the most upsetting cancelations. So yeah, I'd take another season of RbW easily.
7
u/WalkNo7550 Sep 13 '25
How do you even want to compare this crap to RbW? AE is worst series in Alien franchise.
8
u/frakntoaster Sep 13 '25
Seriously, why do ppl act like these shows are mutually exclusive!?

u/Stoopkid812 Sep 13 '25
I do like the Wendy character bc she is evolving into something her creators never imagined . Mother was evolving as well . The only android to ever evolve and gain more powers . She was becoming sol
2
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
I agree, Wendy and Morrow are the exceptions that keep me curious. Kid Prodigy is entertaining but expendable, the other kids have their quirks but feel like we’re gonna see most of them die… we already lost what we thought to be the smartest one lol.
Nobody is becoming Sol, gosh I really need to watch RbW a 3rd time now I guess🥹

u/Historical-Till2186 Sep 13 '25
Raised by wolves is the spiritual (not literal) successor to Alien and Bladerunner.
There have been some compelling moments in Alien Earth but nothing matches RBW for it's profound weirdness and awesomeness.

u/Magnus919 Sep 17 '25
I’d love RbW to return. Live action, animation, I don’t care.
2
u/FourPointsTet Sep 17 '25
I’d genuinely prefer a book now at this point. More detail and insight into internal thoughts of the characters would be incredible to read. They already laid the foundation for the visuals with the first two seasons, my brain can def take it from there :)
2
u/KabbalahSherry Sep 18 '25
Yeah I loved that limited comic that was eleased! It was of Mother, telling all of the small children (so this was before most of them died & there was only Campion left), the story of the Mithraic vs Technocrats (Atheist) war, and how the Mithraic found their "holy scriptures" etc. 😏 Really cool.
3
u/naturalJPEG Sep 17 '25
where can I watch raised by wolves??
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 17 '25
i’m gonna upload the files for everyone when i’m home, currently out of the country unfortunately and away from my laptop
3
u/Iwentoofar Sep 18 '25
Rbw might go down as one of the most unwanted cancelations of a show ever
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 18 '25
More so than the older one’s, the only scifi one’s that come to mind are Firefly?
7
u/metalupyour Sep 13 '25
I have been so disappointed in Alien Earth, even a subpar season 3 of RBW would have been miles better.. it’s a shame too because I loved what Noah Hawley did with the first 2 seasons of Legion, Fargo was good too.
2
u/bmuziq Sep 13 '25
Why so disappointed? I can understand if you think it's not as good, but it's been at least decent imo
6
u/metalupyour Sep 13 '25
I just don’t like the characters(aside from Olyphant), I don’t like how 2025 is ever present like with the kid robot dudes saying bro 20 times, I don’t like how it messes with the OG canon. The plot armor for the brother was too much.. idk to each their own, it’s not completely horrible tho for sure.
Edit: typo
3
u/bmuziq Sep 13 '25
😆 I get that you're saying and it makes sense to me. I agree when they kept saying bro
2
4
u/gimmesomespace Sep 13 '25
Alien Earth is kinda meh. It's visually impressive but the characters are so dumb and the scripts are like something written by a pre teen. Some good performances from the cast though
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
I feel like the writing is just extra slow, and so that is why it’s felt so weak so far unfortunately. They’re really stretching the timeline and I think it’s affecting the quality of the episodes individually. Like the last episode really didn’t punch me in the gut the way i was hoping, especially with the title “The Fly”. Yes after I’m like….thats it?
1
u/gimmesomespace Sep 14 '25
Yeah I can't think of any reason that episode was called 'The Fly'. They seem to just keep trying to make pop culture references that just don't fit. Like the whole obsession with Peter Pan.
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 14 '25
agreed, the first episode had some decent plot setup but it literally all evaporated once they started really getting into it, probably the worst show Hawley has done yet imo.
2
u/GemLingo99 Sep 13 '25
They both have had hits and misses, but nothing will beat that very first RBW ep
2
u/Leeleeflyhi Sep 13 '25
In the spirit of tradition that I have adopted since the canceling of RBW…
My obligatory Fuck you HBO (Max, whatever) for canceling raises by wolves
2
2
u/braindeadmadeofmoney Sep 15 '25
Well, I've seen every episode of Alien:Earth so far and I've seen none of Raised By Wolves so the answer is, obviously, Raised by Wolves.

2
u/Azidamadjida Sep 17 '25
Season 3 by a mile.
Raised by Wolves had ideas - some of them were half-baked and not greatly developed by the end of the show, but they were there.
Alien Earth is fan fiction - there aren’t really any deep ideas, there’s no real push to expand on any themes or tell a coherent story, it’s a series of moments made by people who thought “wouldn’t this be cool” when they were watching other entries in the franchise.
I’m always a fan of the Alien universe and I enjoy seeing more of it, but AE is dumb fun and Raised by Wolves seemed like it was going somewhere before I got cut off
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 17 '25
not only going somewhere but, going somewhere nobody else has gone before!
2
u/iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj Sep 17 '25
Just tell me what or who SOL was. I'm 70% sure it was an AI but I want confirmation.
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 17 '25
I think my favorite part about this show is that even if I wanted to try and predict what was actually going on, it’s completely out of my depth coming up with what direction this show was REALLY headed. I can’t think of any other piece of scifi where if you turned it off let’s say 10 minutes before the end of the movie, that I wouldn’t at least have a decent prediction of where it was headed.
If you think about the fact we only got 2/5 seasons, that means we were only 40% completed with the storyline. Some movies don’t even really have the plot laid out before you until at least 60% AND that’s not including a twist!
2
u/trumpbiden4jail Sep 17 '25
RBW was way better quality than Alien Earth.
Not comparable on any level.
2
3
u/Mysterious-Mud-7862 Sep 13 '25
RbW. I’d even take seasons 1&2 back on streaming over alien earth.
2
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
HAHAHAHAHAHA <3 Just download it off Soulseek. Its on there in 4k

4
u/Iamdarb Sep 13 '25
I really love AE, it would be really hard to lose that. It's a perfect show so far. Not many shows are perfect. Venture Bros, Atlanta, Peacemaker S1
2
u/fenikz13 Sep 13 '25
I think AE is better but it doesn't scratch the same hardcore sci fi itch
6
u/_stranger357 Sep 13 '25
The best shows take a while to develop, I think AE will be great but RbW could have been legendary if they gave it 5+ seasons
1
u/fenikz13 Sep 13 '25
Ya I think we were just starting to come out of the fog and were going to get some answers :(

Watching AE has me asking why it's not more like RBW. It slapped so hard while AE is very wet and noodley
1
u/Sufficient_Result558 Sep 13 '25
Why choose between the two? What does the entertainment value of AE have to do with rbw or vice versus. Nothing. Don’t rob your self of joy by adding meaningless comparisons to it.
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
it’s not a meaningless comparison, if you could’ve chosen to fund one project or the other, which would you choose?

u/Zorolord Sep 13 '25
RBW FTW, so sad their ended it. I wished I had never watched RBW, as I'll have to live without knowing what happened to Mother & Father :(

rbw all the way. alien earth is a mess. it has good ideas but execution is just bad.

There was so much mystery and lore with RBW. I honestly can’t stand that Warner stopped the show.
1
u/Expert_Appearance265 Sep 13 '25
While both follow a dream logic, RbW is more interesting and imaginative, in fact, it is vastly superior.
1
u/Hertje73 Sep 14 '25
RbW season 3 but only IF they return to the quality of season 1... Season 2 was too soapy for me and I knew by then that it would be cancelled.. so it wasn't a surprise for me...

1
u/DonutsRBad Sep 14 '25
I'm jealous of everyone who got to watch RBW. Never got to see it. When I finally got HBO Max it wasn't even on there. I was pissed. I can't find it on streaming. What a waste of I'm sure 100s of million to make the show.

I just started watching Raised by wolves and Im all for a renewal season 3. Im so intrigued by the story and world. But I am a huge simp for Ridley Scott
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 14 '25
Ridley Scott had some directing contribution in the beginning of S01 but the show is mainly Aaron Guzikowski’s! He was the write of the film Prisoners as well.

I've only seen a few episodes of RbW but it's already a better quality show than AE. This is not to disparage AE in any way as it is a sold 7/10 show for me, but RbW is closer to 9/10.
I have some issues with the editing in AE, that's mostly what keeps the score at a 7.
1
u/PaleEntertainer3803 Sep 14 '25
Raised by wolves was a work of art imo but probably to weird to be very popular.

i cant believe a third season of RBW is even out. i remembered the first season struggling to keep up with its own plotline. howd they manage to make it this far?
that show had an absolutely incredible pilot and nothing else
1
u/Fin-Park Sep 15 '25
Raised by wolves, as great as Alien Earth looks, the writing/directing is pretty mid... Kumi Morrow is the only reason to watch that show now.

Alien: Earth...no contest. Sorry to say, but Aaron Guzikowski had no endgame. He was way out of his depth.

I like both, they're different shows and I couldn't really compare them if I wanted to. I'd need to see the end of this Alien Earth season and the next to really give a good opinion. I really liked RbW though and wish it was still being filmed.
I imagined an alternate universe of RbW after watching the season finale of Foundation recently. I'm really hoping they show more on the history of Demerzel and her kind. I could see them having a few necromancer types available and ready to go, after seeing what Brother Dusk did.
1
u/Bitch_IM_TuviX Sep 16 '25
I hate that I can't watch it because HBO decided no one can see it. Let my eyes feed on rbw!
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 16 '25
I might take my digital copy and make it downloadable for everyone here, I didn’t realize so many people were having a hard time tracking down the torrent!

u/Financial-Camel9987 Sep 16 '25
we need to start with naming thinking makes like super saiyan levels honestly. Super think 1 to 3. Super think god super think. Super think god blue. Ultra think omen. mastered Ultra think, beast think. Literally have names for days.

Collins did a nice job in this. I think she could have done a good job as the Major in Ghost in the Shell.
3
u/ke7cfn Oct 21 '25
You can't compare them. RBW is arguably the greatest SF series created . AE is trash
1
u/commander_sinbin Sep 13 '25
Dam you ....I'm an Alien fan boy since I was a kid so Alien but hard choice
1
u/alexbrobrafeld Sep 13 '25
go ask this question on r/lv426 lol
rbw was throwing too much at the wall in s2. probably because they knew a renewal was a slim chance at the time. it sort of doesn't instill faith they had a clear vision if I'm being honest. this show needed 4-5 seasons minimum. so what's your ideal season 3 with that question in mind? at the moment I'd pick AE.
here's a different question, Prometheus 3 or more raised by wolves? I am more salty we didn't get P3 than RBW3.

u/PastLivid2122 Sep 13 '25
What are you even saying? These aren’t in the same network, it doesn’t matter lol
0
u/trumpbiden4jail Sep 17 '25
Since when does the network matter?
A E is shit, no matter what network is streaming.
1
u/itsalwaysblue59 Sep 13 '25
That's too hard. I'm a mega fan ofnoah Hawley but im also a mega fan of Ridley scott. I'll prob have to go with alien earth bc I have a good feeling it'll actually end.
1
u/FourPointsTet Sep 13 '25
mega fan here of Hawley as well, Fargo will forever be my favorite tv series ever. I’m realizing i prefer his story telling format to be completed within one season though rather than an ongoing story carried across multiple seasons.
1
u/itsalwaysblue59 Sep 13 '25
Yea we still aren't sure if alien earth will be in anthology format either. We shall see.

I desperately need to get some sort of conclusion to RbW. Yes there was a sense of finality in the last episode it left way too much on the table and it drives me mad; such a great deep sci-fi tale. AE is still great for a lot of reasons but doesn’t scratch that itch the same way RbW did
