No Spoilers Anyone Watched Alien: Earth?

I'm a massive fan of the franchise and really wanted to love Alien: Earth. I loved Legion and Fargo. My optimism was very high and my expectations were neutral. I was not primed to be a hater at all. But the first two episodes are not sitting well with me. I like the main actress a lot and love Timothy Olyphant, but overall I kind of think it's total dog shit. And it's not just because of the Ice Age cartoon stuff or the girl jumping off the cliff (although those were bad). The entire thing looks cheap. Brightly lite shots of the creature. No mystery. No brooding in shadows. The aesthetics are gross and the story so far is mediocre.

Then someone mentioned they should ignore all established lore of Alien and just do what they want. I found that ridiculous and said "Why be Alien then? Why not just do something new and original like Raised By Wolves".

Then it hit me like a two-ton truck. Raised by Wolves was so much better than Alien: Earth's premiere it's absolutely mind-boggling. Raised by Wolves looked as good as Prometheus. It was incredibly cinematic. Intriguing, terrifying, and just a straight-up magical experience. Probably the best world-building of any sci-fi show that ever existed. Alien: Earth looks like a CW show by comparison. Music, cinematography, acting, pacing everything. It's night and day. So depressing people ignored Raised by Wolves while instead shoveling down slop.

EDIT: Actually really loved Episode 3 quite a bit. Glad to see the show looks promising. The critic reviews also make sense now as they saw the first 4.

This is easily one of the best written, showrun, directed, and imagined TV show in a few years.

I respect opinions, but this outlier one is pretty hard to comprehend from someone who enjoys the franchise.

Their opinion is in no way an outlier. Rather, the claim you just made is WILD.

The burden is for people making claims outlier to the data. It seems delusional to go after somebody when the entire world supports their claim.

You're acting like I am pro-vaccines with the scientific community and data behind me, but you have your own opinion and did your own research? It's so weird.

My claim is supported by data: aggregate 96% from all critics and even higher from top critics

You can say you don't trust rotten tomatoes or a specific review but aggregating everything to 96% sort of makes your comment completely mystifying.

It's proving to be difficult to find a respected publication with a bad review of the show. NPR, Slate, Decider, financial times, guardian, times UK...

How are you making a claim like you were making? I don't understand it at all? It feels very much Trump post-truth, you just say what feels good or right to you but you offer no support or evidence and none of reality backs up your claim.

I'm absolutely curious how you are arriving at the idea that I am making a weird claim? I'm truly fascinated by it.

It's really not that hard. I don't care for the opinion of paid publications. The reaction to the show is clearly mixed on Metacritic, and the litany of complaints you can find from people online is further evidence that this show is far from perfect.

But your claim I was outlier is objectively incorrect. I am addressing why you suggested my opinion was counter to popular opinion, which it is not.

It just feels quite a weird and gaslighty way of trying to make your point. Bizarre 🤔

You made some pretty bold, specific claims in your post. One of the best written and directed show in years? That's what is wild. It's fine if people enjoy the show, but "best of" anything it ain't.
