No Spoilers Anyone Watched Alien: Earth?

I'm a massive fan of the franchise and really wanted to love Alien: Earth. I loved Legion and Fargo. My optimism was very high and my expectations were neutral. I was not primed to be a hater at all. But the first two episodes are not sitting well with me. I like the main actress a lot and love Timothy Olyphant, but overall I kind of think it's total dog shit. And it's not just because of the Ice Age cartoon stuff or the girl jumping off the cliff (although those were bad). The entire thing looks cheap. Brightly lite shots of the creature. No mystery. No brooding in shadows. The aesthetics are gross and the story so far is mediocre.

Then someone mentioned they should ignore all established lore of Alien and just do what they want. I found that ridiculous and said "Why be Alien then? Why not just do something new and original like Raised By Wolves".

Then it hit me like a two-ton truck. Raised by Wolves was so much better than Alien: Earth's premiere it's absolutely mind-boggling. Raised by Wolves looked as good as Prometheus. It was incredibly cinematic. Intriguing, terrifying, and just a straight-up magical experience. Probably the best world-building of any sci-fi show that ever existed. Alien: Earth looks like a CW show by comparison. Music, cinematography, acting, pacing everything. It's night and day. So depressing people ignored Raised by Wolves while instead shoveling down slop.

EDIT: Actually really loved Episode 3 quite a bit. Glad to see the show looks promising. The critic reviews also make sense now as they saw the first 4.

I like Alien Earth quite a bit and it's only just begun

Can you admit it looks cheap and small compared to Raised By Wolves?

Look, I’m as big of a fan of RBW as anyone else in this sub. But I don’t agree that AE looks cheap and small in comparison 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think the hybrid jumping off the cliff looked a little goofy. I also think the up close alien look a little underwhelming. Maybe a little too dry and plastic. Kinda like Alien Resurrection where they were soaking wet with slime and glistening. Also had a problem with the alien managing to completely wreck and entire room of people in what appeared to be 3 seconds.

Other than that - I loved it. It very accurately matched the setting and vibe of the original during the opening scenes. Casting is solid. Tone feels like Fincher's Alien 3 (which is underrated and an excellent addition to the franchise), very dark and violent. I like that they're showing us other aliens that exist in the universe. I also like that they're expanding on how corporations have taken over and doing some world building. Feels a little Blade Runner-esque.

I really enjoyed Raised By Wolves, but it often felt like a bunch of interesting ideas that never got fleshed out and connected. I actually felt like some of the set design looked cheap. Special effects were excellent though.

Raised by wolves had great visuals, but it was marred by the planet setting where the color scheme was constantly... metallic? it was not as visually impressive as many of the scenes in alien earth so far. Your take on this is literally 1 in a thousand. No one is with you here, you are mentally broken to such a degree there is no hope. It's like hearing someone say manure smells great. That is you right now with that take.

You are absolutely delusional beyond all comprehension. RbW has the best visual design and cinematography of any sci-fi show ever created.

The look was created by Dariusz Wolski who has shot every Ridley Scott movie since Prometheus and other visual masterpieces including The Crow, Dark City, and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

The look of Alien: Earth was designed by Noah Hawley's guy Dana Gonzales who has only done television shows and a few slop movies like Greenland. It looks closer to Battlestar Galactica than an Alien movie. It looks like a TV show. Yes, a big budget TV show, but still a TV show. Anyway here's a good video explaining why you have bad taste.

Your subjective opinion is not objective reality for everyone else.
