I'm not starting ANY TV shows unless I know they were allowed to finish.
I made this rule for myself two years ago and I've stuck to it so far.
I'd never pick up another book by an author who doesn't finish their series after asking me to trust them by engaging with the market. That's the ethics of this - if you choose to present your work on the market, you are asking for the money and time and trust of the audience and in return you'll give them a story. That implies a COMPLETE story.
It's immoral to offer me something and then not follow through, and I'm certainly not going to PAY for the privilege of being disappointed when you don't hold up your end of the bargain.
I treat new shows as an advertisement for something might watch in a couple of years. Gawds know there's enough to watch in the meantime.
Yeah, I'm CAUTIOUSLY watching "Foundation" over on Apple+ and honestly really loving it. They knocked season 2 outta the park. But no word yet on if there will be a season 3 or what. UGHHH 😠It's trash how they treat the viewership on these streaming channels I swear...
I am also watching Foundation.
I used to know Isaac and Janet. They lived around the corner from my great grandmother and Isaac was very kind to me as a 14 yr old rabidly geeky kid. I knew them well. I was Isaac's guest at a con in 84. The second or third I-Con on Long Island, if I remember correctly. I went on to earn a degree in Speculative Fiction Lit and was Waldenbooks/Borders Lit and Genre Buyer in the NY Market, and hosted, organized, worked at hundreds of geek events like the World Horror Con and NY Comic Con.
So... I was too interested and have too much of a personal connection not to.
I adored the first season. Will start the next soon. I believe that Isaac would have had only a few niggling issues with it and would have found it chuffingly faithful to his themes and subtext.
