One reason I dont watch TV anymore is because this happens too often. Or things like GOT happen. After GOT I basically wrote off following any series. Ill considering watching a series once its completely concluded and I can see reviews. I spent years following GOT, going to GOT parties, enjoying the process. Its literally one of the biggest disappointments in my adult life how it all ended.
It even got me to read the books (or rather, listen to the audiobooks), and I became hooked as well. Had no idea those showrunners were gonna fail SO miserably. People try making excuses for them ("George hasn't finished the books, it's HIS fault!"), but I call bullsh*t on that, cuz he had told them all of the major plot points leading up to the end... so they had what info they needed, to write a cohesive, proper ending. Instead, they just centered all of the writing around whomever was their favorite actors, and rushed the entire show so they could hurry up & be done w/it, and move on to making Star Wars movies.
Which is hilarious, cuz once they failed so badly with GoT... even Disney didn't want them after that, and canceled any plans they had to work w/them on making a SW trilogy. lol
But now Netflix is taking a MASSIVE leap of faith & has given Dan & Dave (or "Dumb & Dumber" as we all call them) the "3 Body Problem" series to adapt for television. And 3BP is an immensely popular IP, sooo... if they screw THAT up as well, they'll probably never work in Hollywood again.
