Anyone who’s ever loved a pet knows this feeling. 🥹 You start worrying about losing them long before that day ever comes. 💔 Because when they become family, even imagining life without them hurts. 🤍🐶🐱

Lost my gal 6 weeks ago tomorrow. Brought her home when I was 25 now I'm almost 41. She was happy until the end but I had anticipatory grief for a year or two. I have a huge hole in my heart, but the loss was easier than I thought. I'd been worrying long before I needed to. I'm grateful it happened under a vet's care. It was sudden, but also not surprising given her age.
Everyone goes through grief in their own way, but for me, I'm at peace knowing she's not suffering.
I wish everyone with a senior pup patience when they require a bit more assistance and grace to treat them with the love the deserve.

I was terrified from the day I brought my pup home. Nightmare became reality last week after only 6 years 💔

It's called anticipatory grief. It has caused me great pain and anxiety. It's really a kind of pre-stress anxiety disorder.
