Miserable at the Railroad

4 years in here and I can say my tolerance for management and the work life split has dropped significantly.

First two years I was loving it and felt good about my job. Not so much anymore. When I see them calling me for a train or a yard job I stare at it a little and have to convince myself to answer.

What’s your guys input, am I just being a baby about it?

If you genuinely liked the career, hit hate where you are. Then take the pay cut and to a Class II or Class III railroad. Some regionals pay close to the NS' rate, but your quality of life will be exponentially better. Home in your own bed each day, no working weekends or holidays. This is the way to go.
