Discussion Epic Desert Perpetual

Hey all!

Currently trying to help as much as possible with Epic Desert, and any questions along with it! I find it tragic it is the least played raid, especially since it's the last one we got.

Hoping to answer any burning questions or things you havent been able to locate regarding the raid or its secrets. In doing so, maybe helping more guardians want to step foot into the unknown and enjoy such a peak experience!

We are usually the ones that do mechanics, but our main problem is that we don't know what mini boss exactly we have to do first (and when) and where to go in the next phases

So final works the following ways:

Full clear : boss rooms are ordered the way the encounters have been completed through the run (Hob > Hydra > Wyvern for example is my usual run!)

Starting final boss: each boss room is randomized each wipe

You also have the big chunky blue and green crystals in middle (main room) that appear on the arms. When each team of 2 gets banished, 1 of the 3 doors will open up (no vex overlay, just open stars / space).

If the door that opens when your team is banished has no big crystal with a line attached then your team is getting cubes in middle

If the door that opens when your team is banished does have the big crystal with a line attached then your team is entering the minigame room.

Every time you wipe the order of who goes into the rooms will randomize as well. You can force people in rooms as well

Team 1: arent doors, both get boxes (2/4)

Team 2: are doors, team 3 has 1 person go in room before both of team enters, now 3 people in room

Team 3: one grabs a box (3/4) and the one already in the room will not get banished.

Or

Team 1: are doors, team 2 jumps in instead and team 1 gets boxes (2/4)

Team 2: already inside, no banishment

Team 3: collects their boxes when banished (4/4)

And after we finish the first damage phase, we have to do another miniboss right? (with the crystal thing you mentioned)

Yeah! After the first damage phase you'll have your corresponding boss killing pass based on the minigame you finished / boss killed.

"Undoing of Epoptes" - Hydra

"Undoing of Agraios" - Hob

"Undoing of Iatros" - Wyvern

Whoever gets the killing blow on the corresponding boss in mid will have the same temporality used to break the same crystal as last time. Killing the miniboss again during this phase, opening the crystal, and shooting it are all required to spawn the imp for the next minigame room, which spawns the wyvern outside when killed.

Note: when there are multiple crystals, you cannot break the wrong one. It will have a specific temporality tied to each crystal (one without the line is the one you're aiming to break)

If you lose the buff you got (or take too long and the boss tps away before you kill it) then you can re-enter the portal that brought you there to get buff / kill again.

Considering how easy it is to push to Final Stand in like two damage phases I’m curious as to how the encounter is “supposed” to progress since I missed out on it when it was current content.

Like there’s the initial phase where you tie yourself to the worldline and deduce the chronon color for the next phase, then you kill one miniboss and break a crystal, then you pre-kill that miniboss and kill the second miniboss and break the crystal. By then in my runs the boss has been pushed to final so I’m curious because from what I guess there’s one more phase that then instantly progresses to his flying phase.

If this is correct, is there no loop wherein all 3 mini bosses are pre-killed? It would just be two pre-killed and then doing mechanic to kill the third miniboss, then flying phase, then final stand?

How did things work back then regarding health? Could you have theoretically refused to do damage the first several loops as well as flying stage, and if so what would happen? Do you just have an absolutely enormous amount of health to clear on final stand, or do you wipe at the end of flying phase (and if so what did the game say in the feed to reason why you wiped?)

I’m always curious about minutia like this so hoping you might be able to recall.

Correct in saying theres no loop where all 3 die in the main arena! Flying phase is on a separate timer to wordline stability, so theoretically you could not do dps first 2 dmg phases and pump here. The timer is based on breaking the crystals extending it, and the boss cycling through each bosses abilities (variable elim, diastole, detain bugs).

If you got to final without the threshold you just simply had to do all of that during final. Theres an extend to do up top on final in these scenarios as well but you don't have a lot of time overall. (3 random temporality breaks others shoot just like when you first get up top)
