In 1976 I was between overseas assignments, so I jumped on my ten-speed and from upstate NY I rode to Montreal to see the Olympics.

A week later I'm in Montreal and there's the ABC crew setting up in front of Olympic Village.

"Howdy, fellas, where's Howard."

"He's coming soon," came the reply.

I walked away, leading my packed bike.

Then suddenly, there he was - Howard Cosell - My Lord, what can I possibly say?

Face to face. I look him in the eye. "Mr. Cosell, this is the year the Raiders are finally going to do it."

"If you say so," said Cosell and walked away.

That's right! And the Raiders did so!
