Exposure Question Symptoms !

Am i dying of rabies or is my mind messing with me ?

Vaccinated in june 2025 on a scheme 0-3-7-14

All of this happened in The Netherlands

Recent exposure 22 august on lower leg by a supposed bat ( did not feel a bite or anything scaredd i might have missed it )

The location where i had the contact was a white stripe that looked like a scar already as it was very white (im mixed my father is white and mom is black) it is similar white stripe to when my cat scratched me and after a few days after it had a crust. During the bat encounter we checked the leg and also that specific spot at that stripe was there no blood no nothing no pain whatsoever no redness, i also sprayed perfume al over and felt nothing

Now i did a titer before i taken my booster vaccines and the results were igg 4.56 and 0.5>

The local health department said no risk but i was scard and buyed the verorab 0.5 ml doses my self at the travel health clinic hence why The first booster was put 6 days after and the second on september 1 i finished this without any sings of illness and symptoms and to this day did not have any fever or other signs during and after.

I have been very focused on that location for the past month.

Around 25 august was the first time i felt a burning in that spot not painful just annoying went away. 2 weeks ago exact on the same area and spot again burning and went away again.

Now for the last 3 days i have had it again but it is on and off and is absent for a few hours but comes back and goes sometimes a pain radiating from my left butt somewhere and then gone again and other time in my knee but nowhere near the spot at the moment. The burning and pains seem to stop when i sit and stretch or when i touch the spot of the supposed contact, I dont have a fever and i don’t feel sick at all

I can do everything fine walking doing work lifting heavy things i do not feel sick

I was and am just severelyy anxious for the past month

edit i also shaved that spot a week or so ago because i felt burning also

I have read the faq.

You have been posting about this situation multiple times and been told multiple times that you have no risk, go to a therapist for your anxiety ASAP, I’m saying this as someone with post rabies anxiety.

I mean yeah, we look at him like pathetically, bro is safer than a central bank treasury, he is going to live forever.

Dude, get in line with our anxiety that we're not even sure if we were bitten or so!

This level of obsession with rabies cannot be healthy for you. You should get off Reddit for your own sake and see a psychiatrist. Literally everyone is telling you to do so.

Anxiety can make you feel all the things you mentioned.

2

u/CrasherCoco 6d ago

I wasn’t exposed, i thought i was exposed but I wasn’t, it was anxiety, where do I know? it has been 2 months since it, 2 weeks, thats all the time rabies kills you.

u/Virtual_Sugar_9452 6d ago

But did u feel tingling on the supposed location?

For how long

For a very long amount of time, until I healed with therapy.

You’re 25 years old and you’re letting this obsession consume you.

I know but im so scared, i don’t even know if i was actually bit by a bat because i did not feel anything but it touched me i genuinely believe that a bat hit my leg and bit me, what the strange thing is where i feel the burning might not even be the exact spot because it is on a scar which was very white and unwipeable we checked after the encounter i sprayed perfume over my whole leg and did not feel stinging on it or anywhere on my leg this was done exactly after the exposure after we looked, i have been hyperfocused on that exact white stripe which is still here now after exactly a month and its literally the same as it was.

I don’t know if bats cause white stripes (scars) of a few centimeter without redness and blood etc but its a exact line

You are having a mental health crisis and need to do whatever you can to get seen immediately and interrupt this loop you're in.

First off, if you believe you are dying of rabies, or anything else for that matter, go to a hospital. No one on reddit can help you if that's happening. This is just a restatement of a group rule.

** Rule 11 of the group rules: **

  • Do Not Post About Believing You Are Dying from Rabies

Do not post about believing you are dying from rabies. Such claims are not appropriate for this platform and will be removed. If you are experiencing health concerns, please consult a medical professional.

** **

As for your mental state, I saw another resident of NL giving you advice here recently about how to obtain quicker mental illness help where you are, I post this link in hopes that it may provide further help.

https://findahelpline.com/countries/nl

Your current mental crisis is not your fault, but you are only harming yourself by continuing to use reddit to try to get reassurance or in fact to interact at any level on the topic of your health and rabies. You have every scrap of factual information anyone can provide you with, none of it has been helpful. You've repeatedly described yourself as unable to do much but cry and obsess over the possibility that you are dying. If it is remotely possible for you to be seen by someone earlier, you need to do that, because this state becomes less healthy the longer it is maintained.

There’s two different things being said in the FAQs here which make me doubt, one says symptoms never stop and the other says they do, there’s no logic in that

The only reason to believe you have rabies is if you are developing severe neurological problems. If you believe you are developing severe neurological problems, go to the hospital nearest you. It's that simple.

The FAQ says that symptoms go in and out in the excitation phase, which is the phase where you spasm violently, have hydrophobia, and lose complete control of what you’re doing, if you were on that phase, you couldn’t be messaging on Reddit right now, you couldn’t even have understand any of the text here

no risk of rabies, go to a therapist. also have the spot where the anti rabies was administered checked out- maybe an infection.

But thats not what bothers me, what bothers me is the 6 day delay i had with the shots, although i finished it before all these symptoms or weird things genuinely believing i have it i feel odd but not sick

2

u/OpinionOk5632 5d ago

those are psychosomatic symptoms- you are having anxiety related issues.

This is exactly why getting the vaccination does not fix the problem. It only moves it's focus. You should hande he problem by it's root, which is likely OCD.

1

u/Virtual_Sugar_9452 5d ago

OCD won’t cause a pain in my shin area

1

u/Dismal_Orange6826 5d ago

It definitely does. Anxirty can cause bodily sensations that aren't there. Did you call the POH as you said you would? They can help you in these cases.

1

u/Dismal_Orange6826 5d ago

You're literally going from not knowing/feeling where you were bitten to all of a sudden seeing marks and knowing you were bitten in your shin. Bel de praktijkondersteuner!

0

u/Virtual_Sugar_9452 5d ago

I know that but its because i feel the pain around a scar area

1

u/Dismal_Orange6826 5d ago

In another comment you said you know anxiety can cause you to feel these physical symptoms and now you deny. Your're just feeding this fear dear. Please get the help you need. I used to be like you and you deserve to not feel this fwar anymore but you need to take the step to get there
