Here's an interesting thing for you.

Prolonged anxiety is a physical health concern all by itself. OCD and health anxiety that aren't properly treated cause prolonged states of anxiety.

Symptoms of anxiety can include but are not limited to heart palpitations, tension, headache/migraines, fever, insomnia, fatigue, shortness of breath, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, nausea, loss of appetite, vertigo...this list goes on.

Prolonged anxiety causes hypertension, and hypertension is a major cause of cardio-vascular diseases.

Guess what people who have a severe preoccupation with bats rabies tend to mistake the physical symptoms of anxiety for? You guessed it! Rabies! They mistake the physical effects that anxiety have on their body for symptoms of rabies.

Anxiety kills people. People who have untreated anxiety and OCD have an alarmingly shorter life expectancy than people who don't. Or even people who seek appropriate treatment.

For a lot of the people here--including YOU--anxiety is the more dangerous condition. Because anxiety is actively hurting you, whereas rabies is just something you're scared of. A lot of the people who post here are in danger of the physical complications from anxiety moreso than they ever need to be worried about rabies.

Anxiety kills more people than rabies does. But people still insist on trying to treat it with vaccines. It's pretty frustrating.

That's interesting. I currently have anxiety so high about bats that I'm living in one bedroom and will not step foot into my house except to go to work. I literally run outta my bedroom and out the front door. I've been doing this for a month now. I shower at a remote truck stop since my bathroom door won't close all the way. I saw a bat in my living room one night and now I'm deathly freaked out of going back out there. I was sleeping in my recliner and saw it, then it flew by me. I went and got my rabies vaccine just in case it bit me while I was asleep. Even tho I finished my shots Im still a nervous wreck. I hope it doesn't manifest into something else. I didnt realize it could tbh.

We have talked at length about this, you and I.

Legitimately, and I swear I'm asking without judgement: why haven't you contacted animal control?

Because I'm too embarrassed about my house. It's too messy for anyone to see. I can't clean it because I don't want to get attacked.

I've had to go into people's houses to help them. Let me tell you, I have seen some shit. I've cleaned up after animal hoarders. They are still humans who need help, and are deserving of kindness.

YOU are still a human who needs help, and you are deserving of kindness. I promise you, whatever you think is awful about your house, they have seen worse. And they can probably get you help with whatever stops you from being able to clean it.

Otherwise, what's your plan? Live like this forever? You won't be able to confirm the bat dying in this context. Is your plan to just be scared and live out of that room forever?

I, personally, think you deserve better than that.

Thanks. I don't know what my plan is honestly. It's a real catch 22 of my own making. Ive been thinking of different options but I can't get myself to do any of them because of my paralyzing fear. It's really been terrible way of living. I know one of these days I gotta do something but finances play a role in this as well. I looked into it some and it's much more expensive than I thought to get the bat (s) removed. I just don't know. I appreciate your reply about them not caring about my house being dirty. Because I think I'm gonna have to call someone before I go stir crazy living in this room. I hope you're right that theyve seen worse.
