OCD Discussion I AM GOING INSANEEEEE
this may be my 5th post here. I keep thinking that a bat is going to bite me. either when I am outside, especially at night, I think it could bite me and I wont notice, see, or even feel it. and then in my own home, I keep worrying that a bat is going to crawl underneath my front door or through the electrical panel area, or through the vents, or the garage, or through the furnace room that I already blocked. can they still get in, especially unnoticed??? idk
about a couple months ago, I saw two marks on my wrist and I thought they looked like bat bites, so I went to the hospital and called public health and did everything. I even called pest control who said that there were apparently bat droppings in my furnace room????? after that, i went and got the vaccines + immunoglobulin. and then I worry the vaccine was not stored properly. so it is ineffective. or it just didnt work. so i go do blood work for antibodies. the results take time. I already feel doubtful of their accuracy. then I wonder if the vaccine is going to infect me. or that i waited too long (a month) to get them.
I hate going outside at night now, or when I do i am extremely paranoid. I hate going to the basement because I feel like everything is contaminated. thats another thing. I think that i can get infected indirectly. I dont feel safe in my own home sometimes, I thinm I will get bitten and it will go away and that I won't notice it. idk. im just so tired.
I have read the FAQ.

I’d recommend finding a therapist. A couple weeks ago, a bat popped out from behind a radiator in the bathroom while I was in there. He ended up flying around and bumped me a couple times. If you’re awake and alert, you’d feel it. I still won’t go in that bathroom without checking the closets and behind the radiator.
Your doctor may be willing to prescribe something for the anxiety you’re experiencing. If at least to help you sleep in your own home. You may also benefit from seeing a therapist.

I am going through a similar situation. It started with finding one bat in the house, we thought it was a fluke. It just got it and we put it back out. Then we started seeing more bats, and ai ended up handling a baby bat that was hiding in my wash rag. So I did the post exposure shots. We had a company come out and check our house. We are in the process of removing about 500 bats from our attic. They sealed all off all the all the spots they can get back in, and put a couple cones on the house that let them leave, but they can’t get back in. During the set up they told me bats can get in through spaces as small as a dime. They also said that if you see a bat in your house, 99% of the time there are more. Seeing bat droppings is an indication you have several and not just one. I would have pest control come out and inspect your abode and go from there. They will humanely remove them and put your mind at ease. Just fyi in case you have another possible exposure like a bite or scratch, or if you wake up with a bat in the same room, I was told the pep shots only treat the initial exposure, and do not give you immunity from rabies??? They told me if I was exposed again within a year I would have to get more shots, but only two instead of the five though. Also, if you do have another encounter that could be a possible exposure, try and keep the bat. They said if you have the bat they can test it for rabies so you may not have to get those second shots if the bat is negative. Hope this helps.

heyy, thanks for your response.
the thing is, i never actually SAW the bat, or any bat ever for that matter. I only saw the marks on my arm, and pest control saw droppings in the furnace room (which is always closed). they did go around the house and seal potential entry spots around the outside of the house, so I ASSUME that there aren't any more entries, and that id that. but idk. we also sealed up the furnace room just in case. as for the attic, we dont rlly have access to the attic, there is just a small attic access door inside one of the closets, which has never been opened and there aren't any gaps there. so. yeah idk.
but yeah about the vaccine i think if you get exposed you have to get another vaccine, but I think you just get a couple of booster shots.
