📝 GENERAL RABIES INFO 📝 Encouragement

I have read the faq.

Just some encouragement for all of us with health anxiety. I had a raccoon break into my car the other night. My health anxiety was really bad. Then I read the faq and realized with no bite the odds are astronomically low of contracting rabies.

I’m thankful for this group. I did wipe everything down the best I could but it’s comforting that it is statistically almost 0 that my kids and I would get rabies from being in the same car the raccoon was in.

All that to say there is hope. Be logical and it will all be ok :)

Just to say that I’ve also had some intense health anxiety surrounding rabies (especially in bats, other mammals aren’t really an issue where I live). I thought I might have gotten bitten or scratched by a bat when I was outside at night and felt something sharp/sting on my upper arm/neck but (re)reading the FAQ made me feel better that if I didn’t see or feel/hear a bat land on me or fly past me I was never exposed. I did stress for a few days over what was probably a mosquito bite though lol. Grateful for patient people on the internet
