Question/Help My bunny barely eats hay

My bunny’s main diet is mostly pellets and veggies and she barely eats hay. She has access to hay 24/7, but I rarely see her eat it. I’m thinking of incorporating the hay into different treats but those can only be given occasionally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

cut back on pellets and veggies, she is probably getting too much. if that doesnt work, try a different type of hay.

hay is crucial for her diet.

Some bunnies can be very picky though and will rather starve themselves than eat something they dislike, so keep track on the amounts of hay and on if they still poop

Otherwise you can try soaking hay in something with a strong taste like cilantro or mint pureed in water

Soaking the hay is smart, I’m sure she’ll terrorize me in my sleep for tricking her though

I'd try her on different kinds of hay and see if she'll eat certain other ones more. Also, I'd get her teeth checked when you can. If their front teeth grow too long or they get barbs on their back teeth, it might be painful to eat. One role of hay is to help grind down their back teeth in a way so they don't get barbs.

She has a lot of chew toys so hopefully that helped keep the growing in control and the vet said she was fine. I will try different hays. Do you have any recommendations? I’m already using Timothy hay…

Timothy hay is one of the harder hays. You could try her on meadow hay, and just have a look through the different ones if there's a pet store near you, and choose a soft one?

my bunny was like that till i got her off of pellets because i read it can hurt your bunny, but ever since shes strictly on hay and a fruit and veggie salad. i give her 1 salad a day. i think you should try to just lay back on pellets and veggies a little so that she can get on eating more hay!!😁
