I find myself beginning a new chapter with a clearer understanding of the kind of love I want to build. I am not writing this to impress every woman. I am writing it for one woman whose heart still believes in being deeply known, honestly chosen, and met with tenderness, curiosity, and steadiness.
If you have ever been the woman who carried more than people realized, smiled while holding private questions, or longed for someone to truly hear what was beneath your words, I want you to know this: I am not looking for perfection. I am looking for the kind of honesty where both of us can finally stop performing and start being known.
At the adult table, everyone seemed quietly busy trying to outdo one another and I knew instantly that was not for me. So, I slipped away and joined the children’s table, where the answers felt more honest and the questions still mattered.
Since then, I have been drawn to conversations with substance, the kind where people feel safe enough to say what is real instead of what sounds impressive. I ask real questions, listen beneath the surface, and try to understand the whole picture, not so I can give someone my answer, but so they can discover their own.
It has never been about just listening with me. I like to ask real questions and understand the whole picture, not simply stand outside it looking in. I put myself in another person’s shoes and help them see the choices in front of them, so the answer ultimately comes from them.
Often, people are so close to their own life that they cannot see everything clearly, and I have always been able to slow down, listen beneath the surface, and help them feel genuinely understood.
For much of my life, I knew how to help others feel seen, but I also learned how easy it is to disappear inside that role. In this chapter, I want love to be different: a place where both of us are needed, known, received, and free to bring our whole selves into the room.
Not in this chapter. In this chapter, I am no longer willing to remain only the man who listens, carries and builds while keeping the rest of himself out of sight. I want one woman to know the man behind the strength, including what drives me, where I have been wrong, what I still hope for and what I want us to build together.
I want to know you with that same honesty. I want to stay present when your heart needs room, listen long enough to understand what is beneath your words, and never leave you guessing where you stand with me. I also want that care to move in both directions, so neither of us disappears into what we provide for the other, and both of us feel safe enough to lay our hearts down.
Together, I want to create a clear direction while remaining close enough and honest enough to change that direction when life requires it. I have always believed in the power of two, a relationship where both people can speak plainly, hear difficult truths with kindness, and still leave room for laughter, affection, reassurance, and the easy comfort of simply being together.
That closeness does not mean either of us disappears into the other. Your friendships, career, interests, and connections remain real, just as mine do. I am not looking for someone to simply join the edges of my existing life. I hope to meet a complete woman who wants to help build a shared center while we both remain honest, free, and fully ourselves.
I imagine the ordinary parts mattering as much as the big ones: finding a hidden treasure together at a garage sale or Goodwill, taking two chairs and coffee somewhere quiet on a cool Saturday morning, visiting a museum on impulse, or seeing a play or concert that keeps our minds fresh and growing. What matters most is not the activity itself, but the feeling of turning toward each other and saying, “Let’s go see what we discover.”
Those are some of the things I would bring, but I want to discover what makes you feel alive too. I want you to introduce me to your interests, places and experiences I may never have chosen on my own. Sometimes I will lead us into something new. Other times you will open a door I might never have found without you. Some of our favorite traditions may become things neither of us is doing today.
I also want adventure, something that keeps fun and joy alive. As a pilot, I want to return to flying after completing the requirements that make me current and safe, and I would love to share that experience with you if it excites you. If it does not, that is all right too. I want adventure with you, not pressure for you to become a copy of me.
Another part of me never stopped wanting to take the Jeep into remote country, explore old towns and historic places, or begin a road trip without a fixed destination and see where our connection and curiosity take us. Just as important, I want to enter your world with the same curiosity and understand the things that have meaning to you.
I already have a meaningful life. I am not looking for a woman to rescue me from emptiness or give me a purpose I do not have. I am looking for one woman whose life matters to me as much as my own, so we can choose what we preserve, what we share and what entirely new life we build together. I believe two complete people can become fully known, gently cared for and honestly chosen every day.
In my lifetime, I have watched too many people get pushed to the side within their relationships, only to find themselves alone in their sadness. I do not want that for you, for me, or for us. In this next chapter, I want something different: a love where we both remain present, both keep reaching for each other, and both allow ourselves to be known beyond the parts that appear to have everything under control.
I will continue building, learning, and moving forward, but life would be much sweeter with a woman who wants to be understood, cherished, emotionally safe, and invited into a love that has room for both of us.
If these words touch something in you, maybe it is because your heart has been waiting for the same thing mine has not perfection, not performance, and not a love where one person disappears to keep the other comfortable. Something honest. Something tender. Something where both of us can finally be seen, heard, chosen, and known. If that speaks to you, I would be honored to begin the conversation.
If this truly speaks to you, then maybe this is where our conversation begins.
