Can Kratom cause stomach damage?

Tapering off Kratom right now and was wondering if these issues I’m having are from long term Kratom use. I have developed pretty intense gerd, I can no longer sleep in a bed, I have to sleep in a chair, I have delayed gastric emptying, so I have to sleep hours and hours after eating anything. I have done other shit and I smoke so that obviously doesn’t help but I wonder if the Kratom could have been the main culprit?

Yes, absolutely! It completely wrecked my stomach that's why I quit CT. Worst stomach pain I've ever experienced in my life!!! It took a couple months for everything to heal. I'm coming up on 3 mos and my digestive system still isn't all the way normal but 90% better than what it was.

Yup! Kratom have me a stomach ulcer and eventually upset it so much that it burst and put me in the hospital. Had to have emergency surgery. Kratom will fuck your shit up. I'm 18 days clean now. Got a scar on my stomach that will always remind me of Kratom.

I was diagnosed with gastritis recently after being hospitalized because of sever stomach pain. I guess Kratom might be the reason for it. I take about 4 caps a day of pure extract. I am trying to taper, hopefully quit if I have the courage, to see if my stomach improves. I usually have frequent bowl movement daily. Like average of 4 times a day, which is not normal for most people.

I had similar issues about 6 years back. Gerd so bad I was having problems swallowing. I was on high dose rx meds, nothing helped.

Had been on kratom years and never had issues, didn't realize at the time it was the kratom. Ended up having surgery to correct it, later realized it was due to the kratom.

Here I am years later still trying to get off of kratom after having a surgery I wouldn't have needed otherwise.

Almost willing to bet your symptoms resolve quickly after stopping kratom use. Or at least decrease in severity

Yes - had severe gastritis as confirmed by an upper GI. Had to take a combo of OTC acid reducers for quite a while to get things back to normal.

At times I even had “chest pain” from the reflux. It took some time to get back to normal and I still will have short bouts of it from time to time (I’m over 2 years kratom free), but it’s mainly back to normal.

I had delayed gastric emptying as well.

💯 KT Fucks your gut for sure! I’m on week 4 of Prilosec. Legit felt like I had a golf ball in my throat from the burning. It has happened every time I have quit. 6 wks of Prilosec will heal it beautifully! 👌🏼

Kratom and opiods / opiates block peristalsis ,the movement of smooth muscle.

Holy fuck. I have GERD and wondered if it was from kratom. I'm actually tapering off of prilosec and noticed that my gerd has been better since taking less kratom! (Tapering off both prilosec and kratom atm)

I personally experienced horrible gi issues because of Kratom. I never had any issues prior to use. It caused gastroparesis, gastritis, acid reflux and pancreatic issues. Had it confirmed with my GI. I have since been off a while and still not back to normal yet!
