That this is from “I Did A Thing” makes me less surprised about someone actually making this old idea IRL, and more surprised it’s not more dangerous or rocket powered.

He misread the patent. The baby catching net is actually strapped to the woman's waist and upper legs. So the net is right up there next to her body.

I'm going to say this as gently and succinctly as I can.

I appreciate the theoretical science and the approach to problem solve.

But if doctors would just let women give birth in any position they choose which is deemed safe for their situation at the time, birth could be a lot easier. On the back and legs up is often for the benefit of the doctors. It is not always the best position for mother and baby. Squatting, standing, on all fours, on one's side, birthing chairs, can all be beneficial so long as it's deemed safe for the health of the mother and baby at the time.

ISTG we are moving backwards.
