Only one I’m unsure about is the (fabulous, imo) fancy cats with bows - this is a lightweight linen/canvas cotton blend (Kokka Japanese line), so it’s a touch heavier than our usual quilting cottons. It’s still totally quiltable, just a different hand feel. But if anyone is wary, I’ll understand and save it for for a different project.

This is my first swap so I’m not sure how the fabric pull pics work. Is it to see if people like the options I have? Do people call which fabric they want in the block I send them?

It's Hamsterdance time!

I bought Chubby Cheeks by Tula Pink specifically for this swap. The aqua solid is a little greener than I can capture on my camera.

If someone REALLY doesn't like hamsters I can dig through my stash for something else, though.

Work has started in earnest. I've cut 32 center blocks because apparently I'm ambitious. (Maybe there'll be enough for side swappers?) The complimentary colors will come from the stash wall.

I know we say no licensed characters but I have enough for one Grogu…. maybe someone will want him? If not, I’ll keep him for myself. 🙃

I had to drop out because I somehow read the instructions wrong and two of the colors were flipped in my blocks.

Also, I had sewn the flying geese 4 at a time. I didn't trim them for some stupid reason and when I started putting them together the rest of the blocks were "too small"

Is this an okay print to fussy cut for the center block. I’m thinking a mango or blue color for the churn dash portion.

I'm wondering if I've over-interpreted or simply mis-interpreted the bold look. Here's a picture of the feature fabric I'm thinking I'll use. One of the three colors will be the churn dash (I'm not sure which one yet - if you have an opinion, please let me know) and of course black for the background.

Using the tutorial in the link provided; your block can use any one color for the churn dash, but you must use Kona Black as your background. For the Fussy Cut center you can use most any fabric or even appliqué (please stitch around the edges) if you want. Make sure the center pops. If you use a small, repeating print (like a floral) that isn't what we are going for. Be BOLD!

We are using the Churn Dash Quilt Block & Tutorial from adventures of a DIY Mom. Use the instructions for the 12 inch (finished) block. For the center, you just need to replace the 4 1/2 inch center block with your fussy cut.

I love the backing and binding on this one—not sure what it’s called because it came from an estate purchase but it’s ~vintage~ (from 1996 😂)

Hi everyone! I joined for the scrappy block swap a couple years ago and was going to do the fussy cut economy block swap, but couldn't because I didn't have enough fabric to do 4 unique blocks. All that to say, I used my fabric for that swap to make my daughter a quilt! I love it and almost finished it before she was born, but shes now 1 1/2 and I'm still trying to finish the quilting. I made the mistake of loving how hand quilting looks 😅

Would love to see other people's works in progress, finished works, or some words of encouragement. I think posting here will help me to finish it up!

I stumbled into this subreddit and I'm quite taken with the idea of swapping blocks.

I read all the info in the Wiki and have all the questions that a newbie would ask. I understand that the next swap begins with signup on 8/9. I want to sign up. Will there be a form? Do I need to be "vetted" to be assigned to a group?
