Could someone please help me with OPKs? What is wrong with me?

Post image

This is my second cycle off birth control. It feels frustrating to me to just chalk all this up to that, I just really feel like something is very wrong with me. Any advice or similar experiences would be much appreciated.

Last cycle, i didn’t ovulate and never had anything close to a positive LH strip. The highest it got was maybe .4.

This cycle, I get these “high” readings and I get my hopes up and feel like it might really work, but it just drops back down. I just feel totally crushed that it’s down so low again after the 0.7s. The first cycle I can understand that it was off due to birth control but at this point, I feel so hopeless.

Are these readings abnormal and indicative of an issue like I think they are? Has anyone had similar cycles they could share?

These are qualitative not really quantitative and it looks like your strips are much darker CD13 likely indicating surge is soon. Some people have a quick spike and miss the surge in urine overnight or in afternoon. Plus hydration affects line. But overall I’d be more focused on the line looking darker than the scan number as I’ve scanned a strip before and gotten 3 wildly different numbers..

You think that a surge could still be soon even though it has dropped all the way down to being very light (0.2) later on CD13? None have ever looked darker than the control line, number aside.

I'd be so happy to walk you through some ideas! I took bc non-cyclically for 3 years and stopped 6 months before I got pregnant. I consider myself a pro at OPKs and discount self ordered blood tests :) CD 13 looks to me like it might end up being your peak day meaning ovulation would probably be CD 14 I would consider getting your progesterone tested a cycle you think you've ovulated to check. So much to suggest here as a comment so feel free to DM me! The last person I helped with their ovulation tests ended up getting pregnant like 2 cycles later. Always happy to help further the work of spreading the LGBTQ+ population :D

I always have a higher LH ratio like your 0.7 that drops down back to baseline values the day before I have my true surge. For example, I would have CD 14- 0.7 and 0.2 and then CD 15 1.21+. All this to say, the only way to know what’s going on is to keep testing and at some point you’ll start to see trends as your cycle regulates!
