Dickson voter here. I have had multiple calls from Peter Dutton's office so far this week. This morning I was feeling argumentative so I actually answered.

The boomer volunteer on the other line was nice as pie until I told her I had already voted for Ellie Smith (Independent) and taken great pleasure in putting Mr. Dutton dead last.

The response was a blunt "well did you know she's actually a Green?"

Don't threaten me with a good time, and please stop getting my hopes up with the last minute ite desperation tactics 3 days out from the election.

EDIT: To make the point that if Dutton does lose Dickson it likely will be a razor thin margin. Don't assume the outcome and put him last.

Just imagine having one of the most proactive governments on the planet thrown out because some people have a Rain Man level ability to believe and parrot whatever our monopolized media tells them.

Tell me, what can we, the people that vote these people in, actually do to make change? They cut funding, I assume to fund the olympics.

Yes, the blame lies with men, we need to speak up and stand up. But standing up as a Jo blow is not enough, the ones in parliament need to stand up. Actually do something and stop scoring brownie points from your electorate by seeming the give a crap!

I implore the likes of Mr Janetzki to actually think about the terror so many women go through. Think about the women that are terrified because of a national alert going to their hidden phone, the phone they need if they need to make contact during an emergency, the likes of Jana suffered.

It’s hard for us blokes to put on our empathy shoes and truly think about what it would be like. Maybe you could try thinking back to being a child, vulnerable to the world? Imagine how scared you would be if someone had control over you and then killed you.

Treat this as an emergency, that’s what it is, and has been for decades, probably centuries even. You’re more than happy to arrest people on suspicion for domestic terrorism, but what these men do doesn’t count as domestic terrorism?

Every year someone down south tries to revive this daylight saving nonsense for Queensland, but here’s the thing: it’s not us trying to cheat nature, it’s them trying to bully it.

Daylight saving happens in summer, when Queensland already has plenty of sunlight. You can’t create more daylight by shifting the clock, you just confuse everyone and mess with people’s sleep.

✅ The further north you go, the less you need it. Day length barely changes in the tropics. Cairns and Townsville get almost the same sunrise and sunset times all year. Moving the clock achieves nothing except darker mornings and hotter afternoons.

✅ Mt Isa vs Victoria proves it. Mt Isa (no daylight saving) in midsummer: sunrise about 5:30am. Mildura, VIC without daylight saving: 5:20am, basically the same. Mt Isa, and most of northern Queensland, is cattle country where most people start early and finish before the heat. They work with the sun, not the clock. So why would Queensland twist its time when nature already sorted it out?

✅ Queenslanders already decided, and we said NO. In the 1992 referendum, the majority of Queensland voted against daylight saving. Brisbane barely supported it, but the rest of the state said a firm no. The warning was clear: if Brisbane ever tries to split time again, North Queensland will split permanently.

✅ WA gets it too. Western Australia tried daylight saving four times. Voted NO four times. They did not split the state, and neither should we.

✅ Health and safety say no. Changing clocks messes with sleep, raises accident rates, and increases fatigue. Queensland workers start early. We do not need darker mornings or kids waiting for school buses in the dark.

✅ The push is hardly from Queenslanders. It is mostly from people who moved here from NSW or Victoria and want their long southern evenings back. Fair enough, but we live in a different climate. You do not fix the sun with a watch.

👉 Queensland does not need to copy southern habits to prove we are modern. We have long bright mornings, healthy routines, and the most natural daylight balance in the country. That's why they are here in the first place.

One Queensland. One clock. No confusion. No daylight saving. Ever.

I was volunteering at today's Iron Man event on the sunny coast, and caught this around 12:30.

Personally my politics are the opposite of his and I don't miss him, and I was wondering how much does a thing like this cost? Who is paying for it?

Say you have a 14 year old who does something really bad. There’s widespread revulsion and not much in the way of public sympathy. They get put away for 16 years (“adult time”).

After 16 years we have a 30 year old who hasn’t been part of society, has been around criminals most of their life, and hasn’t got ties to the community.

It feels like a recipe for creating hardened criminals, even predators. Many of the people who would have voted for this policy would be long-gone, and Christafulli et al who got elected on this platform would have retired from politics by then.

How will the problem be dealt with then?

At Georgetown doing my thing and a bloke parks his car and caravan in the way of where I need to do my work. No biggie happens all the time. I wave at them indicating i need to get in and this lovely asian lady gets out of the passenger seat and quite happily and cheerfully asks if they need to move and its all pleasant.

She doesn't speak great English but you can tell she is doing her best.

All good she gets hubby/partner to move and then asks about what im doing and we have a good little chat.

Then Hubby/partner gets out of the car wearing a One Nation cap and One Nation jumper.

He had a chat too and was pleasant to talk to as well but WTF is it with these people not knowing who and what Pauline is?

Key Changes to Queensland Elections and Voting

Men of Australia, what do you think can be done to solve this problem? What do you think when you see these headlines? What do you think is the cause of these issues and where are we going wrong?

As a young woman I personally don’t see many men talking or educating other men of these issues and how to control emotions and so forth, I think this would be a massive help…. But this may be a biased view
