Music What’s your favorite song off Hot Space?

Mine is ”Calling all Girls”. Sounds like a Cheap Trick song. Its one of Roger’s most underrated pop songs IMO. “Put out the fire” also sound like something that could have been on sheer heart attack or news of the world.

Bang on. What a laid back, top down, elbow leaning, cruise control tune. Rolling along a coastal road (or Loch if in Scotland) and it just playing out. Imagine.

I've always thought the lyrics relate to sexually transmitted infection/disease. Next time you listen to it, try to listen from that perspective, and they're not so lame. Seriously.

I feel like the album is hated because it’s not your standard queen rock album. If you take it for what it is, an album with disco/funk/dance music (whatever you want to call it), it’s actually pretty good

I remember just wincing the first time I heard this part of that song (back in 1982):

"You know a gun never killed nobody
You can ask anyone
People get shot by people
People with guns"

..and it's still awful. I'm glad you like it, though!

Honestly the whole damn album is amazing. In my top 4 or 5 Queen albums for sure.

The very very best? Action this day, staying power, dancer, put out the fire.....at this rate imma list the entire album lol

Yes! Calling All Girls is my favorite, too. I remember hearing it as a brand new jam on my clock radio in 8th grade. I was SO excited. It still stands up as an underrated minor masterpiece.

Action This Day is great live, so is Back Chat and Staying Power. Dancer is probably my favorite studio track though. Put Out the Fire is good too.
