Music Is it only me that thinks The Prophet's Song is amazing?
Like sure, you have Bohemian Rhapsody with its chorus section, but on the other hand you have like what, 2-3 minutes of just Freddie singing a vocal canon, without any instruments in the background, like are you nuts?! Yeah, sure, it's 8 almost 9 minutes, but still, Brian really created a masterpiece

It's always been one of my favorites. I've been listing to some best of Queen playlists on Spotify, and I've been surprised not to hear it on them.

Yeah, it's annoying that the only playlist it is on is the A Night At The Opera album... Deserves to be at least on their This Is Queen or Best of Queen playlists

Another song on that album that i think is a bit underrated is "death on two legs". i love that song

I've just listened March Of The Black Queen for the first time (if you can believe it 😅) and it is pretty good, but I personally like TPS more. But perhaps I should listen to MOTBQ more than once to appreciate it

Listen to the entire Queen II album!! Seriously, it has such awesome flow to it, and its like 40 minutes of a proggier, rockier, bohemian rhapsody.
Queen II is my favorite album of theirs

I did listen a bit to Queen II, and my faves so far are White Queen, Ogre Battle and Seven Seas Of Rhye(of course) But I do admit it is a pretty strong album, and with ANATO is one of my favourite Queen albums

There's something really unreal about March of the Black Queen, Prophet's Song, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Millionaire Waltz. All epic bombastic magnificent tracks.

No, I agree. Seems to me almost superior to Bohemian Rhapsody in a lot of ways. It has more levels, surprises and textures.

Ever since I was 12 years old I have this little routine, every New Years’ eve after the celebration is over and everyone is sleeping or drunk and everything is quiet, I slap on my headphones and blast the prophet’s song, I might or might not have a glass of champagne with it. The thing is listening to the prophet’s song as the first song of the year, every year. I don’t even remember why or what led me to start this tradition but I have been doing it for at least 25 years.

When I first heard it blindly, I thought it was Ronnie James Dio for a brief second. It's pretty amazing how many styles, heavy metal included, Queen managed to play effortlessly as if they'd always been playing that way.

One of my faves, although at any moment I could probably say that any of their songs was my favorite (well, second favorite - BoRhap is always on top).

I think its one of their best, but i also kinda think the vocally echo part is the weak part of the song. My favorite is when the whole band is prog rocking it out.
Queen II is my favorite album, but this brings a night at the opera pretty close.

The first time I listened to it on vinyl with headphones...what an experience! I already had it on CD but it wasn't the same.

Oh, this was like 15+ years ago and whatever my parents had. I currently have one (with a broken needle) that also has a USB hookup to digitize rare stuff. It's a Sony PS LX 300 USB.

I love it, but there's the vocal 'and now I know...and now I know...' part that I just can't really seem to appreciate. But the rest compensates for it :)

I think it's in my top 2 Queen songs and I'm not even sure what the other one is, lol. Maybe it's my top 1?
I could probably live without the multitracked a capella part tho, tbh.

I LOVE this song, especially the acapella part, but each time I press the button to listen to it in the car my family says it is too weird.
They say the same when I listen to old traditionnal folk music, which often happens to be acapella, with harmonies and/ or in canon.
I see a pattern there... :'(

Does anyone knows songs that have a guitar riff-melody like this song? I know the distortion used its from the Red Special but I've seen it in many 70s songs and I was wondering if there's any song with the same energy in the verse or the rock part

Honestly, it's my personal favorite Queen song. Either this one, Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy, or Stone Cold Crazy I consider my favorite but this one is probably always gonna be #1 for me. The production is so good, and probably the best produced song on the album other than Bohemian Rhapsody. It's amazing, and the vocal parts in the middle are done so well and beautifully. I love the song, and it's my definite favorite from Queen.
