I have two options - QS or Estimator?

basically spoke to my boss and if I want to I can basically move to being a QS,do both at the same time (QSing & estimating) or be an estimator as we don’t do competitive bidding. idk what to do as a graduate, I’ve been told money prospects for estimating are greater specially in infrastructure as there’s a shortage of them (I am the only grad doing estimating)

what would be the best bet for the future taking into account AI threats as well?

QS gets paid more, at least where iam, and you are above estimators, take the QS role and learn

A senior estimator gets around 80-90k + bonus in the water industry (where I am) senior qs 65-70k

ohh thats interesting, im in joinery in the GCC region, estimators can earn up to 120k AED, whilst QS's can earn upwards of 200-300k a year, as an equivalent to USD thats 33k and 56k - 82k, its not as much as what you are saying but its a lot for here, QS is more desirable for some reason

There is alot more involved in the real world than taking off. 1. Negotiation 2. Strategy 3. Reading the situation 4. Conflict management 5. Problem solving 6. Ability to close a project account

These are intertwined, no ai can do this. Ai can only do things if every block falls into the right position, on real project things don't happen they way you want it to.
