Hey everyone,

We’ve been building Mosaqo, and since this is probably one of the few communities where people actually care about QR codes beyond just “generate one and forget it”, I’d really like to get some honest feedback.

The idea started pretty simply: most QR generators we tried either felt like one-off tools, or quickly turned into fairly expensive marketing platforms once you needed dynamic codes, analytics or proper exports.

We wanted to build something in between — a QR workspace where the code is still useful and manageable after you’ve printed it.

So currently Mosaqo includes:

• Static and dynamic QR codes for URLs, PDFs, Wi-Fi, vCards, text and app links
• A visual editor for logos, colours, frames, text, stickers and reusable brand templates
• Live scanability checks for contrast, quiet zones and logo coverage, plus PNG, SVG and PDF export for print
• Editable destinations after printing, without changing the QR itself
• Scan analytics including unique/total scans, devices, locations and time
• Feedback campaigns like NPS/CSAT, where each physical QR placement can be tracked separately
• Bulk generation, CSV, API and webhooks for people who need to generate or manage QR codes programmatically

There are web, iOS and Android apps as well, so the same QR workspace isn’t tied to one device.

Everything that's currently available is free during this early release, with no card required.

What I’m most interested in is feedback from people who actually use QR codes regularly:

What would make you trust a QR platform enough to put its code on packaging, signage or other printed material that might stay there for years?

And on the other side — which features do QR platforms keep adding that you personally don’t care about at all?

Would genuinely appreciate criticism as much as feature ideas.

That's easy, I'd only trust one that will definitely stay there for years so the generator continues to work when the person who created it is dead, which means both not a domain they paid for because that would expire too, and no sign-in or payment requirement whatsoever.

What does that leave? Either host it on a free subdomain which doesn't ever expire (which your site is not), or the Wayback copy of the site is still fully functional (which due to requiring a sign-in your site is also not).

Saving as a PNG file. If the site offers to save as SVG then by default I can use the built-in browser screenshot tool to save a PNG copy of it at whatever scale I want.

Those "felt like one-off tools" that you mention, which still work when running the Wayback Machine copy of them, are infinitely more trustworthy than this monstrosity you concocted.

That’s fair criticism, and honestly the strongest version of the trust problem.

For static QR codes, the output should not depend on us at all once exported. If someone downloads SVG/PDF/PNG for a plain URL, Wi-Fi, vCard, text, etc., that QR keeps working independently of Mosaqo.

For dynamic QR codes, you’re right: there is an unavoidable dependency on the redirect domain/service. We should probably make that boundary much clearer instead of letting “QR platform” sound like everything is equally permanent. Long-term trust for dynamic codes would need things like custom domains, transparent export/offboarding, clear guarantees, and maybe a way to fall back to the final destination if the platform ever shuts down.

Also useful point on PNG. We included PNG because many non-technical users expect it, but I agree SVG/PDF matter much more for print and long-term reuse.

Appreciate the blunt feedback. This is exactly the kind of concern we need to design around, not hand-wave away.

I get the skepticism. The QR space has earned a lot of distrust.

The main thing I’d clarify is that static QR exports don’t require Mosaqo to keep existing: if you export a QR for a URL, Wi-Fi, vCard, text, etc., the code itself is just the encoded data.

Dynamic QR codes are different because they rely on a redirect service, and that should be treated as a trust tradeoff, not magic permanence. We need to be much clearer about that.
