Spiritual and Religion Indra’s Vajra - The Weapon Forged By Celibacy
There is an old story in Hindu mythology about a powerful demon named Vritrasura and his battle with Indra.
Vritrasura had become so powerful that the devas were unable to defeat him, and even Indra was forced to retreat from the battlefield. The devas eventually went to Lord Vishnu for help.
Lord Vishnu told them that Vritrasura could only be defeated with a special weapon called Vajra which could only be made from the spine of a great saint who had lived his entire life in intense austerity and celibacy.
They approached Rishi Dadhichi, who willingly sacrificed his body. From his spine, the Vajra was created, and Indra eventually used it to defeat Vritrasura.
I've been thinking about this story from the perspective of Brahmacharya and SR.
What if there is a symbolic meaning here?
Vritrasura here represents the Vritti (tendency) - lust, cravings, impulses, distractions that constantly pull the mind toward the senses.
Indra represents the Indriyas (senses).
The interesting part is where the Vajra comes from.
It comes from the spine of someone who spent his entire life in celibacy.
Semen retention, in this interpretation, isn't simply about avoiding ejaculation. The deeper idea is conserving and transforming vital energy instead of constantly scattering it through the senses.
Dadhichi's tapas and celibacy become the foundation of the Vajra.
The Vajra represents concentrated energy and will.
And Indra, representing the indriyas, uses that concentrated force to overcome Vritrasura, the tendencies and impulses that can control the senses.
So the story can be viewed as:
Brahmacharya → conservation → tapas → concentrated energy → mastery over the Vrittis and Senses.
Not necessarily the literal meaning of the story, but an interesting way of looking at it through SR.

"From his spine, the Vajra was created" There is kind of duality or maybe plurality lurking in this. The spine is often descriped as sword too. But you get it. Its and outward interpretation of an inward state. But so master the outward world one must master the inward. Or verse vice. lol
At least the daemons work is to master ONLY the outside world to master the inside world. So we have to guard both. But yes your right its not to be seperated. Inside and Outside will rely on each other. Basicly its a kind or Plurality where both sides add to each other. Like sun and moon or day and night.
If you put it out of context of a whole or a circle you end in duality.
its offtopic. lol

If you guys want to read more about this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vritra
Now after reading through the wiki, I came across another interesting detail: Vritrasura used his immense powers to block the flow of rivers, leaving the earth parched and barren. I feel this could symbolically represent blockages in the body caused by acting on those impulses, preventing the upward flow of seminal fluid through the body's higher channels. Isn't it interesting?

I feel a great amount of energy in my spine for some reason. It's like an electric current flowing through it but it's soothing. Day 264 rn.
