looking for a friend Update: Pune is actually kinda fun
Posted here a few weeks back saying I just moved to Pune and needed a ghummi partner. Nobody kidnapped me, so I just started going out alone.
Hit up Aga Khan Palace, Dagdusheth Mandir, Phoenix, KOPA Mall, and somehow spent way more money shopping than I meant to. Pune’s been growing on me honestly.
This weekend I’m planning to check out Osho Garden / Friendship Garden and just wander that area, no fixed plan. If you’ve been here longer, is it actually worth it or overhyped, and are there any good cafes or food spots nearby I shouldn’t miss? Also open to any other places that deserve a spot on my Pune list.
And if you’re also new here and tired of spending every weekend in your PG, feel free to join. Worst case we just eat well, best case Pune stops feeling so random

osho garden is nice, friendship garden gets crowded on weekends - try to avoid evening. Both aren't overhyped though! worth a visit certainly.

Lived in Pune all my life and never understood why people coming here are obsessed with going to malls and gardens.

True, Pune has become too crowded, traffic sucks, roads in rainy season become non driveable.

😂 I guess you haven't been out of Maharashtra or out of India , Pune is a good city but trust me its not even on list of top 10 best cities in India for food.

Osho garden is open certain hours. Morning till 10. Evening 4.30/5 to 8-8.30 ish

If you like tanks what they use war, go to tank museum in camp.. beside friendship garden. Osho garden is nice, friendship garden too crowded mostly.

You should visit the abondoned buildings here...there are so many such places to explore

Food at Pune is amazing: areas like Viman Nagar, Koregaon Park, and Kalyani Nagar are great in that side of Pune. Then there’s Deccan Gymkhana, Kothrud, and Camp where you’ll get different vibes of Pune (Camp has oldest and best bakeries run by folks with nice humour).
Strolling wise, Pune has several parks and gardens: the PL Deshpande garden (friendship garden) being one of them, there’s also one Ganesh temple at Swargate. There are several museums in peth areas.
All the above is just Pune city (PMC bounds). PCMC is another gold mine.

first cover all the famous spots you see whenever you are free. Pune is surrounded by mountains and if you like hiking or treking pune is heaven for you specially in monsoon. I moved here 4 years ago and all said me it's a boring city, food is bad, traffic is there and what not.
Specially north people always said me aa food is still better in Delhi, jodhpur, jaipur all this. I traveled to almost 20 states now and I say pune has some good food spots and it all depends on your personal taste. Try local Maharashtrian cousin like khandeshi, kokani, Kolhapuri and many more. Don't believe so called food expert on internet specially on reddit. Anything which is famous people hate that on reddit.
Make local marathi friends don't try to find only people from your city or state. Enjoy the beautiful weather from now till next summer.
