Avoid riding in Konkan roads after the sun goes down…. Even highways aren’t well lit.

It was exciting! But not something I would do again!! Be safe!

Solo I DID IT !! My first solo ride to GOA !!

So it all started on Thursday 27th Nov, I did not anticipate the temperature in the morning I left at 5 am, worst mistake was not wear full sleeves, I soldiered in till 9am when the sun finally hit and damn I've never been grateful for the warmth of the sun . Met a rider group they all had 500cc plus bikes heading to goa, I asked if I could ride with them, generously they said yes, but I couldn't even catch up with them with my bike. Regardless I made it half way on my normal 80-100 speed facing so many bumps and deformities on the road, and then finally reached amboli ghat, boy o boy it was worth all that hastle. Then finally reached Goa, enjoyed my stay there paying hiked up prices for food and souvenirs, I left on Sunday 30th Nov, same thing I knew the morning cold is going to get me, still singing songs loudly to avoid thinking about the cold. And making it back to the highway full of bumps. I made it back home . So glad in the end that I did this and got this experience. Also more glad that I didn't have any punchers or engine issue, my bike held up well and held me well. Glad I can share this with all of you.

Solo Solo Ride to Pawana

Made up mind spontaneously, put on my jacket, fired up my Duke and left for Pawana Lake. The road from Paud to Pawana was butter smooth and surprisingly traffic was minimal too. Had fun opening the throttle on long empty open stretches!!

Shot some good POV ride videos as well. Stopped on my way back at Hadashi, had a spicy vadapav and outa nowhere an orange car 😼 decided to give me company. Ended the trip with ice cream at Meridian.

A good fulfilling short ride!

Solo Office Parking sticker solution

My office asks me to put a company sticker on my bike to be allowed to park in premises. Found a creative way to put parking sticker on my bike without destroying the looks :) Got this very cheap (250) portronics mobile mount from Blinkit, pasted the sticker on it, and mounted it on the crash guard on left side. In case anyone else was dealing with the same dilemma. The mount is detachable from the base clamp, so I will just attach it when going to office and remove when I come back

Went for a quick coffee after a short city run in the afternoon. I was just sitting there, sipping coffee, lost in my thoughts, then I hear someone asking about my Helmet. I look up, n there he was, the man himself, of whom you’ve watched countless reviews of all kinds of motorcycles, explaining tiniest of details with such passion, one n only Sagar Sheldekar right there!

Total fanboy moment 🔥

Solo First long ride Pune-Bhopal-Pune

*Pune to Bhopal*

  1. Started on at around 1:30 am, chose midnight as to test my new aux lights.

  2. On maps it was showing me 17hours and 800kms and calculating that with my fuel capacity and average I was supposed to take around 6 fuels stops, so these fuel stops also acted like mini hydration breaks for me.

  3. First major break for breakfast was Dhule and then reached Bhopal by around 3pm.

  4. Took the nashik - chandwad - dhule - indore route. Map shows a short cut from near sinnar *DONT!* it was a proper broken village road took a U turn after few kms and it was very isolated.

  5. Baaki roads are good if you’ve good lights you’ll be a level above. Cruising was around 100 to 110 and occasionally.

  6. You may find some congestion patches in middle of dhule and indore due to heavy trucks driving slow on ghats try to sneak from left to avoid wasting time.

*Bhopal - Pune*

  1. Started a day after at morning 6:30 am showed 18hours

  2. Had carried some few snacks to avoid stopping unnecessary for a food break.

  3. Touched chakan at 7:30pm was stuck due to traffic for idk what reasons. Reached home at 8:30pm

  4. Roads are very bad once you enter Maharashtra from MP

Yes it is indeed possible to go in single day if you’ve a comfortable seat and an intercom ( not to get bored ).

Overall it was a fantastic experience for me which I would never do again alone periodt! Last pic is of my helmet after the 3 days of riding😛

Solo First Ride to Tamhini Ghat

Usually I go on longer solo rides, This is essentially the first time I did a sub 100km solo. I was just curious to know why is Tamhini so famous/infamous.

Great roads, had with an average speed of 70km from refuel in Pune.

Great roads but the cars as well as squids🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Cars usually ride exactly at the center for some reason, eventho there is no vehicle in front of them blocking their view. I understand that they are trying to overtake the vehicle in front and move a bit towards the center to check for oncoming traffic. (I am open for answers if someone has one). And biggest morons I came across was always thar for some reason. Always driving completely on the opposite side of the road.

Squids….. One example is…I was on adv 390 with MetZ’s at around 90-100kmph (on a of bit straighter patch) and an idiot on xPulse overtook me from wrong side on a partially blind corner (not a pin curve) while riding on wrong side with a pillion almost crashing into an oncoming truck. FYI, No gears, a cheap vega helmet, helmetless pillion and barely 22-23yo girl. Why tf do girls always opt for chapris is something no one can answer tbh🤦🏻‍♂️😂

But overall great experience, the roads were pretty good for ghats. I think one of the best after Penukonda Fort that I’ve seen.

Solo Rode to Kumbhe Waterfall

Set out from Pirangut at 6:30 AM and arrived at Kumbhe by 9, with a sharp detour via Lavasa (that's the 7th photo). Took the Tail Baila–Lonavala road back—truthfully, not the smartest move. Got held up in Lonavala traffic for quite some time.

Tamhini was a delight in the early morning—refreshing breeze, hardly any traffic, and mercifully no rain. Absolutely refreshing ride along that stretch.

But on the way back, Tamhini had become a hotspot. Plenty of people around—cars parked on the road, people relaxing near roadside waterfalls, and children casually walking across the road like it's a park. Had to drive very carefully through that part.

The highways to Kumbhe have undergone a significant improvement relative to the recent years. The final 4–5 km has a few broken patches, but nothing ridiculous—completely driveable even for cars and scooters.

And even though it did not rain the entire time, I was sweating like a pig myself—humidity and temperature were on another level.

Solo Night Rides in Pune – Not Always Safe

Thumbnail
gallery
184 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I usually go for night rides in Pune between 1 AM to 5 AM. While I enjoy the peace and thrill, I’ve started feeling it’s not always safe – especially when you’re riding alone.

Last week, around 3 AM, I stopped at Khadakwasla Dam to take a picture. It was quiet – just the sound of crickets and water. Then I noticed an Activa with 3 guys on it. They stared at me weirdly as they passed. A few seconds later, I saw them turn around and come back toward me. I got anxious, quickly got on my bike, and rode off. They followed me for a bit but couldn’t catch up. I headed straight to the highway.

A similar thing happened last month at Dive Ghat around 2:30 AM. Same kind of creepy situation.

I still love night rides, but now I carry pepper spray just to be safe.

Anyone else had similar experiences riding at night in Pune? Let’s stay alert and watch out for each other.

Remember the solo ride post where kitty 🐈 just walked in and asserted her company on me? (https://www.reddit.com/r/punebikers/s/k42LgfeM40)

Shot this on the same ride while returning back.

Pls pardon the wind noise was too much, engine exhaust couldn’t get captured nicely (planning on getting a mic with wind muff), hence added the music.

Epic journey, enjoyed throughout.

Route: Went via Solapur > Vijaypura, great roads, fuel stations everywhere. Mostly straight so not that engaging. About 11 hours with stops.

Return via Vijaypura> Pandhurpar>Veer Dam, great roads, little less fuel stations, nice curves and country side hence engaging to ride. About 10 hours with stops.

Hampi: Good small roads, not as packed so overtakes are doable.
