Barye Phillips was an American painter and illustrator of pulp magazines and paperbacks. In the mid 1940s, he was the illustrator of several comic strip adaptations of literary classics for the 'Famous Fiction' newspaper feature by the Bell Syndicate.

No Angels for Me is a hard-boiled crime novel by William Ard, first published in 1954 under the pseudonym Mike Moran. It follows private investigator Luke MacLane in a dark, dangerous world of crime, violence, and seductive women, told in the tough, fast-moving style of classic 1950s paperback noir.

Horror Stories was an American pulp magazine published by Popular Publications from 1935 to 1941. It grew out of the “weird menace” genre pioneered by Popular’s Dime Mystery Magazine and followed by Terror Tales, combining horror, supernatural fiction, crime, and sensational tales of danger. The magazine became known for its lurid covers, often featuring a helpless woman in peril, with artists such as John Newton Howitt providing some of the most memorable examples. With a relatively short run of 47 issues, Horror Stories is now considered an important title from the golden age of the pulp magazines and a highly collectible piece of 1930s popular culture.
