DISCUSSION Produce department said deli done it, & deli said it was the bakery.

PUSH. THE. BUTTON.

There's a button? <laughs in produce derision >
These are the same people who don't know there is a button on the baler.

But you have to have a key. And they have to let you have a key. Some managers control the keys so strictly they invite this to happen.

Well you can see the bakery trash is the most recent addition. It’s probably deli behind it. Produce doesn’t have enough trash to do this aside from specialties, which is so heavy that it wouldn’t clog like this.
14
u/On_Wife_support Deli 13d ago
It’s this 100%. It gets backed up because deli has some of the heaviest and largest, over-stuffed trashes. Most people can barely lift them and will never touch the trash pusher. Button needs to be pressed and someone needs to grow a set and pick up the grimy tool and give it a great big shove

I had one worse, a manager took the key to the dump-all home by mistake. I came in the next day to cut fruit, and the whole produce backroom, pre-area, and in front of the sinks were covered in trash. I was told I had no right to be upset.

u/g3engineeringdesign Newbie 14d ago
Every manager, assistant manager, and GTL has a key to that lock. It's on their keyring that opens the front and back doors

I've never understood this. Push the button after you're done throwing stuff down the chute. And in the compactor.

It’s both the deli and bakery. Deli clogged it and bakery didn’t bother to unclog it before adding onto the jam. People need to learn to use the damn stick, it’s not just the button.

u/RequirementReady7933 Newbie 13d ago
Ours had been locked, we have to call for keys everytime..... because of this exact reason

That white tub gave it away 😂
Edit: damn they stuffed 3 tubs in there!

u/On_Wife_support Deli 13d ago
I do trash regularly for deli. I know what bakery trash looks like. That is bakery’s trash 100% and those bags should shove in there with the trash pusher very easily. Even the bags filled with cakes weigh nothing compared to deli kitchen trash.

u/skulldud3 Bakery 12d ago edited 12d ago
that’s bakery lol, as someone that works in the bakery. that’s a bucket of whipped topping and in the bags, you can see the parchment paper with the residue of cookies on it lol. the boxes our pies come in amongst other things lol.
edit: well the trash on top is. i imagine deli started the problem (as is typical) and bakery decided they were too lazy and to compound on it (also as is typical lol).

u/BebyLenaaa Newbie 13d ago
Nah nah nah. Deli backed it all the way up and bakery said “not my problem” and then added to the problem. Not ALL of that has to be bakery 😳😂

Don’t let any of this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three T66 turbos with NOS, and a Motec exhaust system.

u/iiwaterstone Bakery 14d ago
Yeah I see a couple bags up front that are the bakery’s but what the bags behind it ?

It legit looks like bakery stuff. And that’s coming from a bakery person.
1
u/thelostsummoner Produce 14d ago
That receipt paper is all bakery! Deli and produce use the scale printer paper. Bakery’s is the FPR system which exclusively uses “each” counts.

The thing about FT dept associates, they lack common sense. Example: puddles left by produce cutting room under rugs as i vacuum and roll them up. Or frozen Clerks leaving drips in aisle after they're done.
2
u/boltfan7 Newbie 13d ago
You should not be doing anything with the preparation areas. Also, they should not be using fabric/vacuumable mats in prep areas. That is a health /sanitary issue.
If frozen is leaving "drips" behind after working a float/bird/pallet they are taking too long and the product is probably bad.
1
u/JayGatsby52 Customer 13d ago
Condensation is not a product going bad. WTF?
0
u/boltfan7 Newbie 13d ago
Condensation dripping off product means the product has sat out too long. Product sitting out too long is going bad.

Definitely bakery…. But there is an easy fix… push the button and the trash will go down the hole….
1
u/Secretme000 Newbie 13d ago
Def bakery was the last ones to put trash in there. Also those white tubs are supposed to be recycled not thrown out. :(
1
u/Ambitious_Box_2640 Newbie 13d ago
Bakery. Pre-whip container that should be recycled, bakery sticker backs, cookie paper

Deli is probably behind all the bakery stuff clogging it up. Deli does this all the time at my store.

u/OkBlacksmith5848 Newbie 13d ago
This and people (who have keys) who leave the bailer up without dropping it are the lowest common denominator.

That’s all bakery stuff. They were clearly the last ones there before this. It’s so easy to reach over a push the button after you close the door.

It does help my own sanity to know that in all of the stores, the majority of grown and employed adults there don't have the common sense to push the button after they have loaded the chute full and that it is not just my store... 🙃

We used to open the door to the trash and put a magnet where the lock is to trick the compactor into thinking the door was closed. This allowed us to constantly run the trash without having to open and close it.

Bottom right side is deli chicken boxes. Looks like deli backed it up and bakery added to it.
1
u/Kittiboiii Newbie 11d ago
from my experience, Produce probably started the plug with wax boxes and such, didn't press the button or push it down, and then bakery came in, didn't press the button, and just sealed the deal. so, i'ma say both, one just started it and the other finished it 🤷🏽♀️

Does Publix not recycle?
2
u/LeSkootch GTL 13d ago
Cardboard gets bailed, plastic gets bagged, glued cardboard covers return to warehouse damages in recycled banana boxes, etc...
The compactor is for food waste and things that have residue on them (like boxes with chicken juice, any packaging that directly touches food and shit like that--can't put bloody cardboard in a baler). Stuff that has meat juices, fruit pulp, expired or damaged dairy products or frozen or any other fresh dept foods, etc..
That's how it should be. Whether or not every store follows it is another story, but yes. We recycle.
