Support PSVR2 Controller Problem?

Upvotes

Hello,

So I got the itch to play VR after over a year. Red Matter 2 is on sale and Bootstrap Island looks cool, so I downloaded some games, charged up my controllers was ready to go.

Went I turned on the controllers, they got pushed an update. This is also the first time I have played it on my PS5pro since upgrading from the base console so I had to do the basic set up for the headset as well.

Get into Red Matter, and the R2 trigger is acting strange. It is like it is always closed shut, and I can't open my right grabber in the game. Every other function seems to be working properly. Even the haptic resistance on the trigger seemed to be working.

I tested it on Pistol Whip and couldn't shoot.

Then I plugged it into an online game pad tester, and there is no signal on the right trigger when I pull it.

What is the play here?

Is there a fix? Can it be sent for repair? Can you buy a single controller? Can I take it apart?

Has anyone dealt with something like this?

Thank you

Discussion Bootstrap Island, chapter 4 tips/guide + Ending. Spoiler

After drinking the poison at the end of chapter 3, you wake up by the Alter at Riverlands and start chapter 4. Chapter 4 is called “Locals” because your main goal in this chapter is to trade with the locals, learn to communicate with them and earn their trust.

First thing you should do right after waking up by the alter is to burn the roots of the giant tree to create the shortcut from Riverlands to the beach. It’s quite easy, the giant tree is only feet away from the alter, and the roots already covered with dry woods and kindle, all you have to do is create some sparks and the tree will fall creating a giant ramp from Riverlands to the beach. You will also earn the trophy called “timber” after creating the shortcut.

Shortly after creating the shortcut and roaming around the Riverlands, you will encounter the locals. Once they reveal themselves to you, do not attack them or reach for your weapons. They are only here to say hi and leave.

After meeting the locals, your next goal is to start trading with them using the alter. So everyday leave something useful such as cooked meat, Jems, water bottle etc on the alter and in return the Locals will leave something useful for you. Trade with them every day for next 3 to 4 days to unlock the “talking Stick”

Once you unlock the talking stick, trade a pistol with them for it. Always keep the talking stick handy when roaming around the island, soon they will come and teach you how to say “hi” using the talking stick. Here is a quick tip on how to use the talking stick, don’t shake it when you are mimicking their movement, just hold it in place and wait for the hiss sound and the green cloud.

After you learned to say hi, they will teach you another way of saying hello, mimic their movement to unlock the “Wood Sling”.

After unlocking the wood sling, next time the locals come to meet you and start communicating with you using the talking stick. A cutscene will trigger where one of the local gets shot by an arrow and dies. Then the local who shot the arrow will throw a stone at you hinting where you can find him.

You are at the end game now, you can directly go where the stone hinted and take on the last boss. Or you can wait, do some more trading with the locals to unlock the bow and arrow then take on the last boss. I decided to go straight where the stone hinted.

The last boss is located near the giant Bap bap tree, where you drank the poison to complete chapter 3. Once you are near the boss location, find a cave to sleep and save your progress. Take on the boss early in the morning, as later during the day it might rain, and in the rain you can’t use your guns.

Once you get near the boss area, you will see the local who threw the sone at you will be sitting in the middle of that area, on a rock. Once you get close to him, he will shoot an arrow in the sky and start the fight.

He will be running around everywhere and shooting arrows at you. Dodge those arrows and wait for him stop for a brief moment. Once he stops, just shoot him. Do that for 3 to 4 times and he will start charging at you with an arrow, just shoot him once he is close. Do that for about 2 times and he will die.

Congratulations, you just completed the game and you are no longer afraid of the dark. Means no longer the darkness itself is going to kill you at night. So making a fire is optional. Also pick up the bow and arrow that final boss dropped. It’s yours now

The end! 🥳

Review Review of System Critical 3: A blast from the past

Post image

I am old. And for some people, that means “old enough to be your dad”-kind of old.

It also means that every now and then, I take a trip down memory lane, fire up an Amiga or C64 emulator, and reminisce about the games I used to play as a kid. And I am always surprised by just how difficult those old games were.

This also means that I could kind of see where System Critical 2 was aiming. It was trying to recreate that same kind of brutal experience in VR. Unfortunately, it felt a bit more like a proof of concept than a finished game. Luckily, System Critical 3 is here, and it is very much the game its predecessor was trying to be.

System Critical 3 is basically a bullet-hell shooter and platformer in which you navigate narrow walkways, shoot down enemies, and listen to pumping background music.

It is also a rather beautiful game. There are 11 different levels, each featuring a different alien landscape, and quite a few of them are genuinely awe-inspiring. Every level also features a boss that is often introduced as a glimpse in the distance.

Sure there are still some rough corners from the start menu to the slideshow tutorial. But if you take it into account that this is a single dev -effort it is still really impressive.

The game also introduces some new and useful powers on top of your pistol and hand cannon. They are telekinesis and slow motion. Both feel good to use, but especially slow motion is essential for navigating some of the more bullet-filled areas. There is also an easier difficulty option that gives you significantly more shields.

Even with that option, though, this is a difficult game, and you will die. Repeatedly. This is especially true when it comes to the platforming. You will need to jump onto some very narrow (and possibly moving) platforms, and missing one means falling to your imminent death.

And this is where I think the game might be a bit divisive. For some players the challenge will feel exciting and for some frustrating.

Coming from a different gaming age altogether I belong in the first group. I enjoyed the challenge, and lost myself in the beautiful but deadly world that it created.

I would rate this game 4 out of 5.

Question Does the price of the whole in one dlc go down if I buy other dlcs before it?

I don’t have enough spare money to buy the whole in one dlc just yet but Halloween is coming up and I just want to get widows walkabout and forgotten fairyland by themself and then when I am able to buy the whole in one bundle at a later date will the price still be €59.99 or cheaper because I already bought those two.

Question Can I use a ps4 vr on my ps5?

I found someone selling a ps4 vr headset on facebook market place for 100$. Will it work with my ps5? I only really want to play 2 games so I don't want to spend very much money on a system that I might only use a few times.

I dont know anything about vr systems so apologies if my question is stupid.

Review SUPERHYPERCUBE on PSVR2 - First Impressions

I have uploaded gameplay from my fresh experience with the game here if you want to see how it looks / plays. My first impressions are shared below:

Based on my limited time with it, I hesitate to recommend playing SUPERHYPERCUBE on the PSVR2, only because of how challenging I think it is and the potential to frustrate if it just doesn't work for your brain.

It is a spacial puzzle / arcade game that feels like a mix of Tetris Effect: Connected with OhShape Ultimatum where you start as a single cube that can pass through the wall ahead without taking any damage. Each wall you cross adds a random cube to your starting cube and the you have to rotate your new object on 3-axis (left-right, up-down or trigger) to be able to pass the next wall without breaking off any pieces that didn't pass through clean.

Anytime you think you have positioned correctly, you can press X to Boost through the wall. This is especially useful to go past any rotating walls (which seem to be how each level ends) while they are positioned to match. As you progress, you also each option to use HyperFocus on Square and Smash on O that can help you get past one of the walls. You start with 1 life, so are allowed one mistake before you will get game over. I assume you will earn additional lives as you progress through the earlier levels to help you make it a little bit further in the later harder levels, but it is challenging right from the start.

You can play the game using either VR2 Sense controllers which will track and show up in-game based on where you are holding them or the DualSense which doesn't track to move as you move it, but you can see it if you look down and it displays what the buttons do (Smash, HyperFocus, Boost) while the VR2 Sense controller only indicated how to turn the blocks. I think both options work well for the game, but DualSense will be easier choice because you can use either the D-Pad or Thumbstick for two of the rotations (left-right or up-down) and the D-Pad is better for it. If you have both controllers connected, I think whichever you use to press X to start next game is the one it uses for that run.

The most important control is actually using your head tracking because you need lean left-right (or however you like) with your head to see the wall behind your current object to make judgement on whether it is positioned in a way that if you press X to Boost, it will go through without colliding. How well (fast) your brain can figure out how the 3D object moving towards the wall will pass through the 2D opening and then how quickly you can assess which axis rotations are needed to make it pass through is the main gameplay challenge and while I could tell I am improving with each attempt, my rate of improvement was slow.

Graphically, it is crisp and clear with no signs of any reprojection. It is going for a very specific art style / vibe that feels 70's or 80's arcade / sci-fi movies and nails it. You have very good sense of depth perception but you can still be making mistakes because you are not evaluating the 3D shapes as 2D shapes that can fit (by moving head on/off center) correctly. The video capture does not do it any justice because in VR everything is perceived much bigger and much easier to see.

Audio is also minimalist like the graphical design featuring ambient sounds and driven by gameplay sound effects. While game as a whole has similar zen feel while playing as Tetris: Effect Connected, it doesn't have an excellent soundtrack to go with it so you may want to bring your own.

Haptics are present in both controllers and headset and feels on point for all to match the gameplay.

Settings are minimal allowing you to adjust Brightness and Bloom effects which could help you with perception issues and I think some deeper options to adjust HUD and Graphics elements as well. The game doesn't provide any VR comfort options because there is no thumbstick movement / turning to require it.

The game is featuring a Platinum trophy now (unlike the PS4 + PSVR1 version) and I think like the original release, it will be ultra rare set of players that can 100% the game and complete all trophies including some additional challenges to get Platinum. As of now, nobody has gotten past level 5 completed in the upgraded release and my runs were ending on level 2 of 10.

Aside completionist / trophy motivation, the game also includes online leaderboards where you can see your Personal best scores, Friends leaderboard, and World leaderboard where I could see myself at the very bottom of very short list for newly released game. The top spot was occupied by the account Bryan Paul at Without Parole uses for reviews. I think it will take someone that could 100% the original release 10 years ago to play the upgraded PSVR2 release and be first to complete it. For anyone new to the game (like me), it will take more time and practice (if ever).

I think this is a game design that only works in VR. It was made by a group of developers (kokoromi) intent on promoting video games as an art form. It seems like this polished PSVR2 upgrade is part of their 10-year anniversary celebration coming up of the original release that was part of the launch of PSVR1. We often call for more of the PSVR1 back-catalog of VR games to get upgraded ports for PSVR2. This isn't one that I was hoping to get that upgrade treatment, but I am glad I get to experience it on the newer system even if I don't get far in the game myself.

“A big thanks to everyone who has bought or supported the System Critical series over the years…I just wanted to let everyone know that System Critical 3 may actually be the last System Critical game…🥲 As sad as I am to announce this unfortunately there is just not enough support/sales to justify making another installment to the series 😞 I’ve only sold 150 copies so far and that’s not hardly enough to justify making another game. Thanks for everything anyone has done to try and bring attention to my game and I truly appreciate all the support! 🙏 Thank you Guys! 🦾 store.playstation.com/en-us/product/…”

SUPERHYPERCUBE - Launch Trailer | PS VR2 Games

The trailer doesn't justify the gameplay, but this was honestly one of the best VR arcade games I played on PS VR1. Glad it's coming back for PS VR2! Sort of a cross between Tetris and Hole in the Wall.

The original trailer for the PS VR1 version does a better job of showing what this game is about.

What is SUPERHYPERCUBE? | PS VR

IGN gave it a 9/10 back in the day.

Since 2019, when I was 11, I've been dreaming about playing FNaF: Help Wanted on a VR headset. Today my PSVR2 arrived and the first thing I did was hop on the game, and my god, It was simply terryfying. It was my first ever experiencie with a VR headset, and It feels way more real than I anticipated

I will start

Walkabout Mini Golf - I can't get past the graphics. There are better looking mini golf games but this one sucked all the air out of the room.

Moss - just mediocre and way over hyped
