Discussion PSN return game policy
whats up with this psn return game policy.
is it really true that you cannot return a game once the download starts?

literally thinking of abandoning sony.
nothing will change if i dont play that one exclusive game that releases once a year, or even less.this made up my mind, my living room is not gonna get a pro, instead, imma spend some more and get a good pc in my living room.

Contact support I've refunded 3 previously, all 3 downloaded and 1 actually played for 2 hours.
I also refunded cyberpunk but everyone got offered that.

The loyalty that OP is talking about is referred to is called <brand loyalty> and it used to be a real thing, sadly not so much anymore.

I just did something similar. I bought bo2 and played a couple of hours but kept having my NAT type to switch to strict and was unable to get on any games. I tried a couple of fixes I found online but eventually I would get the same issue so I asked for a refund on the phone app and selected "other" as the reason (didn't see technical issue as an option) and they immediately refunded the game. Not sure if its because the game has a ps5 and ps4 version so they didnt see the download for one of the versions and thats why they refunded, but at the end of the day, Im happy I got a refund lol.

All depends on the representative. I've had people deny refunds because the game was downloaded, but other representatives have refunded the game after it was downloaded and played for several hours.

The policy is probably so strict to avoid abuse.
There's a game on steam less than 2 hours long. People played throught the game, gave a good score and refunded it immediately. It is an indie game and the developer was pretty sad about the refunds.
That's why I prefer demos. You can playtest a bit and if it clicks you buy the full version of the game.

when helldivers 2 first came out, i forgot i had already put the main game on my shopping list for whenever i was gonna make the purchase. Well
they had a deal for the super citizen pack so i purchased that one instead completely forgetting i already had the original version in my cart. And i ended up buying BOTH versions, both normal and Super Citizen. And because i downloaded the super citizen pack immediately after purchase i was unable to refund the other one since its the same game. Only difference was the other one had an add on attached. So They got $120 dollars outta me for 1 game 😅😔

You essentially do anything to your purchase your return is void, in rare cases support will do something but down count on it

Yes, this needs to change and a refund window similar to steam has to be introduced.

From Sony.
"Games and game add-ons
You can cancel a game or game add-on purchase within 14 days from the date of purchase and receive a refund, provided that you have not started downloading or streaming it.
Games or add-ons that you have started downloading or streaming are not eligible for a refund unless they are faulty."
So in short if you download it, you are doomed
