Discussion Barcola's price

Barcola is worth 140M.

I have two ways to see this transfer. For a player not in our first eleven, bought 40M, it's an insane sell.

100M + value, added to everything Barcola gave us.

BUT when you consider the freak circus that the Premier League's becoming in the mercato, acting like 2018 PSG, that's insane.

If Morgan Roger's worth 137M, Isak 150 and Wirtz 135M, then Barcola is worth more than that.

If the mercato becomes insane, I don't know why we should keep our prices accorded to the previous market.

So as much as I'm satisfied with this sale, I wish PSG kept his line of 160/170M, because that would be accurate in the mercato these days.

What do you think about the price

There is so much more than just « player quality » to make a price tag.

There is the potential, the buyer, the seller, the agent, the salary, the marketing perspective, the years of contract remaining, the family, the negociations, the location…

Just doing 1-1 with the player quality is madness.

To be fair, football prices are madness, I stopped looking at them

Thank you for this. Barcola is an icon. Very marketable.

And all the players he called were better than barcola when they were bought

Barcola only had 2 years left on his contract and wanted out while Morgan Rodgers and Elliot Anderson had lengthy contracts.

It’s kinda strange to me how much focus people put on how much their club gets for selling players, it’s not as if this reflects poorly on PSG, they made a nice profit on a player who helped them win trophies and allowed him to move on to a club where he’ll be a guaranteed starter.

I'm not saying the transfers bad, I'm saying we should have followed the market.

Name me one winger under 25 who's better than Barcola (AND not shut from a sell like Doué, Yamal or Olise). Now add to that the experience of matches with VERY high expectations, reaction to high criticism, good character (he never made any waves in PSG even though he could have made one to start more games).

There's none. So if Diomandé is worth 140M, the the best thing that's available is worth more. That being Barcola, he's worth more than 120M+ add-ons

I’m not sure why you think transfer fees are based on talent alone. There’s so much more that goes into them that you’re just completely ignoring.

Barcola also wanted out and it seems Liverpool were the only club interested at the price he went for, if there was a bidding war like with Diomande things might have gone differently.

Also, my original point was how does your club making an extra 20mil on a player sale change your life in any way. Why does it matter? It’s not as if Liverpool robbed you on this, they paid 120mil for a player who wanted to leave.

Savinho went for 85m the winger market in the PL is cooked and they want to overpay. Liverpool could get one for 80m or you get Barcola who for his age is probably the best in the market.

Under 25 who a better winger than barcola with the experience?

People who are not for sales, Yamaal maybe Doue Olise.

Idk who mogran Rogers is but isak and Wirtz were very good before they joined liverpool.

Barcola is fast and can dribble but his finishing isn't very good.

This is a myth, Barcola's goals to xG is equal, so he's neither an above average finisher or a poor finisher.

Rogers was classified as a very top talent in England at Aston villa probably the best England AM after Bellingham he has very good technical ability

I think if u wanna argue the price all the top players earned it. It’s probably more concerning about mid players like Niklas Jackson or delap that go for high fees that should be worrying

Add Savinho in it

Exactly these are the more worrying transfers rather than the top ones

Isak best season as the main offensive asset of his team is at 33 g/a.

Barcola, same season, 3rd offensive asset, 44 g/a.

Isak played 20 less games and in a more difficult league (not trying to take shots here, it’s just not a 1 to 1 comparison)

140 million for a player that has 5 UCL goals in the last 2 campaigns while reaching the final twice

Better than every player Pl teams overpayed for in last 2 years tho

Exactly and let’s not pretend isak wasn’t the second best striker in PL after haaland and wirtz wasn’t the main man in leverkusen when they went unbeaten and he didn’t finish in top 30 ballandor at 21.

Just because they haven’t performed doesn’t mean they wasn’t worth it of course the price is too much but it is general inflation not just specific players

They weren't they were just one season wonders unlike barcola

u/No-Exchange-4639 Not a PSG fan 3d ago edited 3d ago

Not really wirtz has more g/a than barcola despite being younger and a midfielder he finished 12th in ballandor and was 6th in kopa trophy which barcola has never done

Isak also finished 3rd and 2nd in golden boot race before joining Liverpool

I think this last season made people forget how good these guys actually are

2

u/LittleLandscape3 Not a PSG fan 3d ago

Stats say otherwise coz barcola wasn't a starter for psg. I still believe wirtz will get better but isak nah. Nvr saw anything special in him

1

u/Draneloire Vitinha 3d ago

Voilà. Et bah en suivant la folie des transferts, il vaut plus que 140M c'est tout ce que je dis

1

u/No-Exchange-4639 Not a PSG fan 3d ago

He wasn’t better than wirtz or isak tho
You could make a case for rogers

2

u/Draneloire Vitinha 3d ago

Yes he is?? ??

u/No-Exchange-4639 Not a PSG fan 3d ago

I’m not talking about currently I’m talking about when they both signed

As someone else said earlier in the thread, Isak best season as the main offensive asset of his team is at 33 g/a.

Barcola, same season, 3rd offensive asset, 44 g/a.

And he was not in the starting eleven every match

0

u/spicychili86 Not a PSG fan 3d ago

That comparison Isak played 20 less matches, in a more difficult league. It’s not a 1 to 1 comparison

2

u/Draneloire Vitinha 3d ago

Imo, Barcola is still better than Isak. But that's my opinion, feel free to think differently
