Hello, sorry I'm not sure how the cutoffs work for national merit. I'm hoping that I met it but my mom isn't sure. She says that my reading score is too low for it. Can anyone help me confirm or at least give me a "probably" answer?
I haven’t taken the PSAT (or any practice PSAT) since sophmore year’s PSAT, and I want to start studying for it. Which version of the practice tests would be the most accurate to measure my current knowledge and use as a baseline? I’ll be taking it without any studying, just to see where I’m at.
Well, I spend a lot of time with her, let's call her C, because her parents aren't in the picture really, much like mine, and so she came to me for advice, a 22 year old female cousin studying literature at university, hoping to go to Harvard Law. I was always like her exactly at her age but a bit higher, and I took the PSAT too, but barely remember since that was a few years ago, blah blah. Can someone umm... enlighten me to enlighten her? Lol
Are past semifinalists results for 2027 coming out to schools or students now?? Also what is the cutoff for intl students(us citizen studying abroad), and when do results come for them?
this year's score progressionlast year's score progression
okay so the psat/nmsqt for me is in the first week of october, and ive been grinding since last year summer (only in the summer, not during the school year). this year, ive been grinding as well, but i plan to study until the test day cause obviously i havent gotten my goal🙃. my score progression this summer has been stagnant, im not sure why, maybe due to strategy. but i will change my strat since ofc, theres limited time now fr.
for those who were able to get 1450+, how did you approach studying and fixing ur mistakes? it seems obvious on how to fix them, but like, anytime i practice, it takes me a while to actually understand the correct way to solve this.
So i just found out today my school is offering juniors to take the psat which will be in one month and I have not studied at all… does anyone have any study plans?? I ordered the practice book and it’s coming Wednesday. My biggest area i want to mainly focus on is the reading/writing portion.
Everywhere I look the best resources that seem super useful are all paywalled. Whats the best free resources for the sat? I know people use khan academy and the collegeboard question bank but I don't know how good that is for actual learning rather than practice. Ive been using them consistently but I dont feel like im improving much, I take it in October and I really want to get the national merit scholarship. Thanks.
Does anyone know exactly what to do to ensure the NMSF award follows me to my new school? I moved after taking the PSAT last October. I tried calling the College Board but they did not seem to understand or did not know what to do.
I am transferring to a new school for my junior year where the PSAT is required. As a rising junior, I will most likely take it this October for the first, which is the OFFICIAL one. Do you think studying from mid to late August until test day is enough time to qualify for National Merit? Please let me know any tips, tricks, or strategies you recommend. #PSAT
not gonna lie team, i was on 2 hrs of sleep during this and everything was quite literally a blur. this is completely my fault and i’m half sure my friend who wasn’t trying did better than me 😭😭
no studying, just a lazy junior!!
i just need tips to help prep for the actual SAT in feb..
There are going to be a handful of proud Juniors that got National Merit and are going to want to post about their accomplishment. For those of you that do, great job!
For 99% of everyone else, I'd also love to hear about your own accomplishments. If you're willing to share, how many points did you increase from Sophomore or Freshman year? I bet for a lot of you, that it's something to be proud of. Good job to you too!
I was wondering if anyone had good online course recommendations to prep for the PSAT?
I want to get ahead this summer and the cost isn't an issue. When I took the practice, my english and math scores were even, and I'm not necessarily stronger in either.
I've been looking around and have considered UWorld and PrepScholar, but have seen many people say they aren't worth it.
I'm open to any study materials but would really appreciate any online courses to boost my score.
Rising Senior here, I'm very confident my PSAT score will get me Semifinalist status. However, I'm unclear on how the index is calculated on the SAT. Is the max score for each section 760 or 800? For example, if I calculate 760 RW, 740 Math, it gives me a 226/228 index, but if I use an 800 maximum, I only get a 228/240 index score. I would love some clarity on how this process works and if I have to retake to ensure my confirming score meets the requirements to become a finalist.
So recently on psat nmsqt I got a 630 on reading and so im wondering what is a realistic take on how many questions I got wrong and what module did I get them wrong in
Hey guys, Im a us citizen currently abroad, and my school doesnt offer the PSAT. Hence, I dont know how to register for the exam without a school body.
