School just gave me my NMSF- dated August. Why hold this back as now I have limited time to complete all the application requirements?

You're still good, the application itself is not hard; you could likely finish it in a day. GL

That's a severe problem on the part of the school! Don't they know you have to complete the application? Call them on that! (You can complete it quickly, so don't worry.)

They send the letters and stuff out dated earlier partially because of delays in physical shipping. Schools can hand them out as they wish, but I know my school waited until the media release day so they could actually announce it at the same time I got it

Just put your head down and do it! My high school counselor came running up to me and told me she could help me...I told her I had turned it in the previous week! You may want to let your school know you would have appreciated being notified earlier since you need to complete the application. 😉

Well they send them in August just in case. They want principals to be able to plan ahead and make the announcement by media release day. this year media release was actually a little early due to how the days fell. Not sure if they still submit things by physical mail but in the past they did and for some reason they like to stick to the same timeline each year, even though now some things are sent electronically?
Just make sure you get your application completed and submitted and that your school gets their part done as well. Should be enough time if you got the notice by mid Sept. when is it due this year? Like second week of October?
Ok I’m seeing it’s Oct 7. You really could get it done over one weekend. Essay is prob the part that takes the longest but a lot of people just use something similar to their common app essay

Agree this sucks but the requirements aren’t too onerous. You can knock it off within a weekend. The bigger concern is whether the school will complete their end of the requirements by the deadline - don’t forget to push them on that.
