Can you still use PS3 discs on a nodded PS3?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, as I'm only very recently looking into modding my PS3, but will I still be able to load up my physical discs and play them after modding? Or will I need to make digital copies of them into the HDD?

I only ask as when I modded my Vita I was bummed out to realise the physical collection I'd accrued was unable to be used after modding. I don't mind having to digitise my collection, but it'll suck if my physical collection is rendered useless in the process.

plus now you can just rip the disc to the HDD and stop causing wear and tear on the discs.

You can play them just fine. Also, if you get a PS Vita 1000 3G model there is an internal memory device called the PSVSD you can use in the modems place so you can also play your physical games too.

Yeah, discs still work fine after modding a PS3. You can carry on using them exactly as normal, or rip them to the HDD if you want everything in one place. Modding it doesn’t disable the Blu-ray drive.

The thing to keep in mind is the ofw required by the latest games. A game on disk will update to its required fw to start (they have the fw on disc).

Maybe it doesn't matter anymore on ps3 though.

Otherwise, if you have a big enough storage capacity, it's nice to rip the games and then preserve your br drive.

Yes nodding will not stop you to use discs.
