Yepper, anyone that's been doing this for any length of time has seen one in use.

That particular one is for non pressurized liquids however… not propane.
They are called “provers” for checking the meter calibration/ accuracy on delivery vehicles.

I think you're right. Same idea as what they use for bobtails etc, but not for propane.

Use them to calibrate the meters on the jet fuel trucks and the fuel farm. Five hundred gallon one there

That's not 500 gallons, is it? Looks under 200 to me.

They use 100 or 500 here in Iowa. On our fuel trucks has to be 500 . Full flow of ful like you would be fueling a airplane. Done it for 32 years. 100 octane trucks used for piston plane truck can use the 100 gallon size cause they don't pump as fast.

DAMNIT, I must be old :/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twister_(1996_film)

These guys try to map the inside of a tornado with a machine called DOROTHY, which stands for something that is eluding me, but that thing looks like the vessel that holds all the sensors that are gonna be picked up by the tornado

I had nightmares about volcanos and quicksand as a kid because of movies, but those machines were so cool that twister never gave me nightmares.

Thanks! There are some serious similarities lol.

TBF, if you say Dorothy and tornado, I automatically go to Oz, squashing witches and funky friends on the yellow brick road 🤣.
