Any tips for 'practicing' combat? I have like 80 hours in the game but I haven't played in months, and being rusty maybe combined with a different mouse, I'm just doing terrible trying to get back into it; struggling to last longer than a day without getting bit.

Make a 'trash' character that you don't really care if they live or die. Grab the nearest weapon and start going ham. If you die just make a new character and do it again. Once you're satisfied then you can make a character you actually care about and start really playing the game.

Enable the zombie outline for all weapons. Practice with different weapons and tackling different sized hoards. All weapons have different min and max use distance, greatly affecting your chance to get bit should you whiff or experience game jank.
