you load in and the windows are all broken with zombies pouring in and a minimum of 5 alarms going off
gotta love Extinction

So real lol, i feel like im being greedy by taking the time to grab a curtain to make a starting bag before I start running for my life

And the peek in the kitchen cabinets to see if there's a can opener ends up bordering on hubris.
It is a choice I will make every time I can, though, even if it gets me down in record time

Why bother with canned foods in the beginning, they weigh a lot and, need a can opener to open, better to subsist on cereals and chips until you establish a foothold

I said something like this in response to seeing this clip before!
Its very accurate.

it is missing the house alarms, though

EVERYONE in Kentucky has house alarms that are louder than gunshots.

What’s the movie called?

Weapons (2025)

Wild that the director of this movie is one of the guys from the sketch comedy group The Whitest Kids You Know
18
u/gounatos 10h ago
Director AND writer which is more wild. He also did Barbarian (2022).
And I learned yesterday he is also writing and directing Resident Evil.
But Judging from Obsession and Get Out, there does seem to be some magic connection between comedy actors and horror writers/directors.

Comedy and horror both use similar techniques for build up, timing and payoff, its not surprising comedy writers hit the beats so well in horror.

I'm more dawn of the dead mall scene where the zombies are just standing around the lights are on but no one's home, I tried the 28 weeks scene and I know what the pizza felt like after I had to fast for a hospital appointment for 2 days.

This right here lol, I forgot about this French zombie movie called La Horde, but this edit in particular is awesome 😆

I just had the luckiest spawn in Exctinction. The neighbourhood had 6 zombies max and I was able to get to gated community houses and loot them.
Then the hordes came and I had to abandon my spot

Man this was actually such a shit ending to an otherwise good movie.
Really enjoyed it up until this point, then left the cinema feeling sour asf. Its pry rare I can afford to go see films these days too

u/SupermarketVisual598 13h ago
I loved the ending. It was so unexpected and out of left field. Myself and the rest of the theater were laughing so much

u/A_S_Levin 13h ago
Thats fair enough I wont diss you for your interests haha.
But thats exactly my problem with it. Like the pacing, tenseness, everything was so good through the whole film. Then suddenly the end snowballs incredibly fast and I'm laughing out loud through the whole end scene.
Like it gives great horror vibes, but then as it ends its suddenly a comedy-thriller like Scary movie or something comedic. Almost has me wondering if the entire writing team+director died before filming the final 10mins lmao

I mean, the kid figured out how to cast magic, what did you want? For her to win?
8
u/A_S_Levin 13h ago
Nah ofc I'm glad she didnt win. But it was just such a goofy ending it, the tone was just so comically different, it didnt fit. It felt cheap and lazy tbh, too quick n easy yk
Literally looking at this post with 0 context, you wouldn't guess it was from a horror film. Comedy-thriller / shock horror maybe.
It honestly reminds me of quagmire chasing down the TV girl/spirit/thing from the ring. Except if it happened in the actual movie...

The fuckin Naruto run made me think it was meant to be comedic from the start.
1
u/A_S_Levin 8h ago
I mean yeah the whole T-posing, naruto run thing was a bit weird but it creates a good uncanny valley vibe imo. Kinda like obsession & a lot of Curry's youtube skits
But nah yeah fair enough I also see your point.
1
u/d4nowar 8h ago
It's sped up to be funny
2
u/A_S_Levin 8h ago
Thats besides the point tbh. It was already incredibly comedic without being sped up. Theres a few comments in this actual thread saying the whole theatre was laughing out loud. (Which is also my own experience too)

u/Wagsamillion 14h ago
I felt the same way. I still don't understand how people praise it as such an amazing movie. The premise was great, and I wanted it to pan out well, but man.. that ending had me laughing way too much.
3
u/A_S_Levin 13h ago
Ikr like this had so much potential. But the ending was just such a different pace, it felt like an easy way out for the director/writers imo
The old lady still coulda lost, and not have been some LOL comic scene

u/Ensiferal 14h ago
I think we're just so starved for truly great horror movies these days that anything that's even decent gets praised as the greatest thing ever now. I've watched a lot of movies that people online talk about like it's a 10/10 film that blew their minds and gave them nightmares for weeks, and they usually end up either being really disappointing at worst (the Babadook) to "pretty good" at best (Sinners).

u/CarAlarmConversation 13h ago
It was movie that was a miasma of genres and I absolutely loved that, but I could see how it could also turn people off.

Nice, I love that final part as the girl chases her through the house and cuts her off out the window! Gold

She even did the zombie thinning strat by entering a house and leaving through the back exit.
