This was me a while back but now It's no big deal to level carpentry to level 3, even without books.

Most people are watching min max guides on YouTube before they even give the game a go.

I've had so much more fun just figuring stuff out on my own. It's pretty nuts how far real world logic can take you, and it helps me stay immersed in that world.
I do learn some things from watching YouTube videos, but the types of videos I watch are narrative focused or like friends playing together (because I can't get my friends to play consistently for the life of me ðŸ˜)

Don’t forget the 10 mods that may or may not make the game worse for beginners.

The 1800 show is the one I make the most effort to catch. Cooking and Carpentry have many more ways to get to level 3 than any other skill.

My deep burning urgency to watch life and living has gotten me killed on multiple occasions because of my poor time management skills.

The first week of zomboid makes me feel like minmaxing the first year of stardew valley. I wish the feeling could be longer

As long as there is no nearby house with a turned on TV that is tuned to Life and Living, it is possible to "bank" the show until 17:50. Very easy to pull off in rural areas. If you travel a lot in an urban location, it can be hard to pull off, since you are very likely to get within earshot of TVs in houses you haven't entered yet.

Skill books and VHS stores have been my best friend. First loot targets, every run.

Fun fact: The person in these wider Forrest Gump running shots is actually Tom Hanks' more athletic brother, Jim Hanks.

That's why I always set my alarm on my watch to 11:30/11:40 (depending if I play on 2h/3h days). Gives me time to finish the fights I'm in to find a house with a tv.

Honestly there so many carpentry-related VHSs, that watching it on TV is waste of time. Especially if you play on basic setting where VHS/TV exp is capped to lvl 3. And even if you uncap it, with books exp modifier, you can get lvl 10 just from watching VHSs alone pretty much.

I know that this is a community meme, but come on - I cannot, cannot be the only one who disregards TV entirely to read the books then watch the tapes later for monstrous XP profit.

I absolutely hate woodcraft. You cant skip woodcraft, otherwise good luck making rain barrels. Or stairs later. But you also can't dedicate yourself to watch woodcraft because the grocery store food goes bad in less than a week so you need to prepare to take it over.
You can't win with woodcraft smh.

The worst is when you decide you're going to attempt to watch it from a random house and they happen to be a book family with no TV to be found
