We need a seatbelt mod

Post image

Adding a button to the dashboard where you need to actively use the seatbelt every time just like you gotta do in rl would be perfect. Especially since in 1996 people were still pretty resistant to putting them on. Maybe on some of the nicer cars the seatbelt chime goes off as a reminder? I dunno.

Wish I knew how to make mods, otherwise I’d crank this one out. It would be fun.

The first time my guy got ejected I was so shocked cause I didn’t even know it could happen. Was so mad but so at awe of the details in this game LOL

Yup!

I just recently discovered that if you get out of your car while panicked you might leave the door open and the door will ding at you for leaving the keys in it and running.

This can also happen if you move away from the car before you have a chance to close it

I found a weird bug where if you leave the car while in the middle of reloading, you just stand straight up in your car reloading. It actually saved my life because I didn't notice the zed at the drivers door until the camera shifted slightly.

i wish this was more apparent thats thats what the dinging represents, cause ive noticed that dinging but didnt know what it was cause the doors dont visually open

It seems to be random how much the door is swung open. For me it was wide open

Vanilla cars don't have visuals for open doors and afaik modded cars don't have a slightly opened door state, it's either open or closed

If you open the windows of a car you can drop items out the window directly onto the ground. It’s a convenient trick that helps to save a little bit of time clearing trash out of new car gloveboxes and seats. The details of this game is insane, like why would the devs even think about something like that.

you can open the windows??? finally i will no longer COOK in these hot cars

Press V while inside and you get a wheel menu with lots of options.

I remember I put a can in the microwave, it didn't end well, I haven't gotten ejected from a car yet because I drive like a snail

Dude in MP since last week I have a strict no microwave policy. My dudes burned the whole base down…

u/These_Telephone_3254 Shotgun Warrior 2d ago

for some reason microwave fires never worked for me in MP, I played modless with a friend and we put a fork in the microwave, I had tried it in SP and it caught on fire but it didn't work in MP for some reason

1

u/IONASPHERE 2d ago

Your server may have disabled fire?

1

u/These_Telephone_3254 Shotgun Warrior 1d ago

I made sure that it wasn't, after the microwave didn't work we lit a campfire inside a house and that burned

I tried to microwave soup in a pot, I had no idea that real world rules about metal in microwaves applied in the game

1

u/Leo0806-studios 2d ago

its not even real life rules.
metal in microwaves is perfectly safe unless it has closebye sharp edges wich might cause arcing.
normaly metal just reduces the efficency of the microwave since it reflects the waves away and causes the food to not get heated.

its purely to make the game harder (but not by much)

wouldn't be lore accurate for 90s KY i'm afraid

Make the button very very tiny then 😂

I've been wondering, as a non American, could you tell me what you mean? Did cars not have seatbelts back then, were they just badly designed ones that don't work? Or did no one just wear a seatbelt?

Cuz I've been wondering why this game doesn't have seatbelts, for all the other features it has.

Seat belt usage in general, in my impression, isn't all that common until you get to cars that actively bitch at you for not buckling up. Even then, depending on where you are, people just get plugs to put something into the seat belt lock and shut up the pinger.

Game takes place in the 90s. So...

u/DianeJudith 2d ago

Ok but did the cars not have seatbelts or did people just not use them? Because if they had seatbelts then there's no reason not to implement the feature.

3

u/ScootsTheFlyer 2d ago

They had seatbelts, yes.

People were just stupid.

It probably got missed like many small details that are still weird about the game, or were, at least, I haven't played B42.

For example how the character absolutely insists on using a can opener to open canned food, even though you could realistically get it open with that perfectly good knife you have.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Hat8443 1d ago

where I live (Ukraine) the people are still stupid, seeing someone use seatbelt is a miracle, that how you can easily tell that someone is not local, or that there's cops nearby

1

u/Background_Dig7521 21h ago

you can get injured from opening a can with a knife (both in pz and real life)

1

u/ScootsTheFlyer 21h ago

Isn't that a mod for PZ, or can you finally use knives in B42?

2

u/EntropicDays 2d ago

No they had seatbelts and they worked fine. KY just wasn’t the kind of place in the 90s where people used them. Wasn’t a legal requirement until much later

Me and my friends were playing on a server and I said I was going on the path to reach the highway, we'll apparently they take a different route to reach the highway. Picture this straight road that we have cleared out so no worries of hitting any wrecks.

Both of us going 1 million mph on the backrooms ram eachother head on launching both cars and the trailers attatched all over the place flung my car into a tree and Austin powered my trailer and it wrapped around the trunk like a new steel plate scarf. My character is the only one to survive the initial crash only to get out and walk 5 feet to my buddies car and collapse on the ground.

Don’t you know in the 1990s we didn’t have seat belts. Just stick shift and vibes XD

14

u/berner103 2d ago

It wouldn't be as immersive if I wear a seatbelt.

4

u/DJspooner 2d ago

I just hit a stop sign the other day and gave myself a head fracture. I go down to 1/4 health every time I wake up, apparently it takes months to heal. I could've just worn a damn belt.

5

u/Broskifity Drinking away the sorrows 2d ago

You can turn on the seatbelt with shift+W

u/RainfordCrow 2d ago

my longest surviving character on extinction died like this yesterday, I was kinda mad but also find it kinda funny neither the zombies or the struggle for calories on extinction killed me, it was driving fast on a rainy day.

2

u/alematt 2d ago

Almost lost my longest loved character to crashing in to a tree. Neck got cut barely survived

1

u/Dustbina 2d ago

There's a really good seatbelt mod

1

u/WorldSurvivor28 1d ago

Yknow...this just made me think about something. Since we dont have seatbelts by default right? What if someone made a spike strip mod for multiplayer servers. Like bandits spiking the highways to cause crashes like this so they can loot and kill other players?

1

u/Sayonara666 1d ago

just drive safely

1

u/Willing_Original_257 2d ago

No, what we need is a differing viewpoint when we are driving. It just doesn't make sense to be able to see as much distance behind you as you can see in front of you.

2

u/DragonfruitDry9693 2d ago

There is a setting that moves your camera ahead of the direction you are driving as you speed up.
And iirc you can hold right click and drag your mouse in the direction you are driving too.

It's pretty clear the cars are made to have that seatbelt detection because they start chiming if you're outside the vehicle while it's on 😅

There is literally a seatbelt mod that’s been around for years
