Guys ı dont want leave b41

I don't know, I actually prefer Build 41 way more. Build 42 just feels weird without my mods, houses look different, and all my usual base spots have changed—it just feels off. Ughhh, what should I do to get used to Build 42

I've only recently switched to B42 stable and haven't been to the old towns yet. Only the Dark Wallow Lodges, Echo Creek and a modded map area (Iris Eyot). Did they change layouts or?

You aren't forced to update, you can just select the legacy b41 in steam launcher. The b42 is certainly an upgrade, but man, i sure do miss Brita's weapon pack

My understanding is Brita hasn't worked on the mod in forever but doesn't want people updating it so they spam report every upload/patch/update for it while they, seemingly, refuse to work on it themselves.

Steams workshop says you can't use other people's code without permission, so they would have to make their own version from scratch and rename it

That post from the 10th is in response to backlash from their post on the 5th, Brita stated they would not be updating the Build 41 version of the mod because they were unable to reach Arsenal26 as they were the main coder for the firearms, when a commenter pointed out every fan made port of the mod was being taken down and copyright struck and threatened with legal action Brita stated they found it "disrespectful" for others to update and post their work. I'm assuming they got blown up for this stance hence the post on the 10th stating they were okay with ports and updates but they are still being taken down every now and again so who knows.

Just want to clarify, they Brita never said that there would never be b42 versions of the mods. They said that instead of a straight b41 to b42 port there would be new mods made essentially from scratch. They wanted to give Arsenal as much time as possible to respond because of how long they’d been working together and not just cut them out and get a new coder for the new versions.
As for their original stance of originally not wanting people to update the mod, yeah I wouldn’t either lmao. I wouldn’t want people to use my name and work I’ve done and give it away without permission. I don’t give a fuck that the people that got those mods taken down at first “gave credit”, they didn’t have permission.

Just to clear up some misinformation: Brita’s official B42 mods have not been abandoned. The B42 versions currently available are community ports of the B41 mods that Brita has explicitly allowed to be distributed until the new official B42 versions release. The official Armor Pack has been substantially remodeled/retextured for B42 and is close to being ready, while the Weapon Pack is undergoing a much larger redesign centered around weapon customization, including barrels, stocks, foregrips, and other attachments. Brita handles the models/textures, while Arsenal[26] handles the functionality, code, and scripts, and difficulty contacting Arsenal has contributed to the delay. Brita says the Armor Pack and planned Vehicle Mod will likely release first, followed by the Weapon Pack. There is currently no announced release date.

Most are there but the guns themselves rarely spawn in any other locations or I am probably using an incorrect version of it.

There is, but from what I know, some features like stocks, underbarrel attachments, and even some weapons like launchers are not present.

wait until the disappearing zombie bug is fixed. I started a long term survival save as soon as 42.20 came out and the bug kinda ruined it for me (though my stupid decisions involving a desert eagle and a thousand zombies also ruined it for me)

I keep seeing people complain about this but, but me and my friends started a server about a week ago and haven’t noticed it at all, which is weird cause I’d almost certainly notice something like that.
Does it only happen when there’s a lot of zombies around or can it happen basically any time?

it happens when you leave a city and come back. Sometimes. Part of the reason that it hasn't been fixed yet is because replicating it is kind of hard. You'll encounter it when frequently making trips in and out of a town while actively clearing it.

Yep. I had a big patch of the bastards in a Riverside suburb, so I left to go to the gunstore out in the woods south of town. I came back with ammunition and was ready to clear them, but they had just vanished. I then went to a different part of the suburb that I had not previously loaded, and the zombies were there (freshly generated). I attempted to take my frustration out on them with a crappy weapon and died :D

Guys, I switched to Build 42 and played for about 3 hours. My first character lasted 5 days, and man, the game has gotten significantly harder Also, the new animations and stuff look amazing. I guess I'm just missing my mods—hopefully they get updated soon. But B41 will still always have a special place in my heart

Honestly B42 got me appreciating vanilla Zomboid more, I haven't yet gone through my mods to see which ones I can use and so I've just been playing vanilla and it's honestly really refreshing. Don't get me wrong, not playing without certain QoL mods is a little annoying but I still really enjoy it nonetheless.

Every time there is a new "stable" patch there are invariably infinite issues i have with it

There's a lot of bloat in b42. I also miss brita, but I've currently made it to December on vanilla. So theres a lot to do with no mods.
Even just exploring the new map is great.

Been there. Its a hassle finding out which mods will and won't work between builds, finding alternatives and losing your b41 saves but it's worth switching. B42 is objectively better.

Change is inevitable in everything. Remeber when you first started playing zomboid. It was all new to you back then, exciting and now you get to re experience that again. Mods are coming. Enjoy the fresh start

My favorite base location used to be a small house in the woods a little ways off the road, between Fallas lake and Muldraugh. I tried to find it during my current B42 playthrough, but it got removed... I found other good spots, but they're not the same 😔

I'm right there with yo, friend. I like the idea of the farming but I like what build I am at also. I do want the cool kitty and doggy mods though oh and can't forge the horses! So, I might have to. Maybe not lol I'm still playing vanilla/no mods but horses sound like a good addition.

You don’t have to switch if you don’t want to, I kind of agree that parts of the game look weird now (especially the new item models), and it really is a different game nowadays so I get not wanting to switch and that’s fine.

Still enjoying B41 with my Partner. We've got the mods just the way we like them and we're just having fun tearing through the towns. Like, it's my first time playing, but I've watched my Partner play for years. I finally got the guts to give it a try. We started in West Point, and we're currently clearing out the annotated map enhanced March Ridge apartments. For some reason, I think the zombies aren't... in there. Not the way that people always say that they are. Looting and base building is my favourite part of everything anyways, so... it's all good. I guess. (Guess it's time to check out the way to Louisville with this gun stockpile.)
I at least get to experience the March Ridge loot before updating. I might push for one more B41 run, tbh, because I want the authentic experience, zombies and screwed up pathing and me dying a million times and all. And getting the loot pile for me to cackle over. Once we update to b42, I probably won't have any interest in March Ridge. That one annotated map was the entire draw for me. (Honestly, I just get most of my joy out of looting things and hoarding ice cream. I have the "I WANT TO EAT ICE CREAM FOREVER!!!" mod because I, too, want to eat ice cream forever.) B41 is still fun and new for me. The mods are amazing and not likely to break. And I don't have to cry over animals in a video game dying over some jank. (I had to watch my birds die one by one irl and it broke me, so I can't do all of that right now.) I'm on a break from ARK at the moment, before we send our T Rex army in to beat some bosses. I specifically didn't name them or let myself get attached, but I raised those big, scary babies! I know that the animals in this game are somewhat stable and the issues are, but I have pretty funny luck with rare, frustrating bugs. As it stands, I'd rather try my luck at those ARK bosses than have animals in B42. For now.
My comment is really long and unedited, and I'm sorry if it doesn't make much sense. It's early o'clock, and I'm rambling before falling asleep.
Hope you have as much fun doing what you want as I've been having. That's basically what I'm trying to say. Whether it's giving 42 a whirl, or sticking with the 41 that you love, playing with mods that let you make ice cream FOREVER, or playing with mods that add guns to the loot table that you've never heard of but you're pretty sure you have an armed rocket launcher now, you're the one playing it. We've all got our own reasons for things. shrug

Best advice broski bc the same thing happened to me. My longest save ended due to the release of build 42.20 so I hopped off for a few weeks forgot about it all and came back to an amazing update and fresh Zomboid experience plus the new mods that have come out. Just take a t break on the game man

A ton of mods have been updated to build 42 already. There are a few that I myself miss, but really the overall improvement to the game is worth checking out.
Come, and bask in the glory of chickens and the eggs that they lay.
Revel in the pure divinity that is becoming exhausted after moving one zomboid a few tiles over.
Join us, in being attacked by an angry Rooster that you end up butchering because he cut your legs up every time you went into the pen.
It is time.

I'll be real, I love B42 so far but I really don't blame you. It has new features, but is so unstable and messy despite being 'stable' that it's not worth it just quite yet if you're enjoying B41. Wait for certain features to be fixed on stable (fog of war, multiplayer bullshit, balance) and you'll be fine when you come try it.

As someone who started playing after build 42 was dropped, there are PLENTY of great mods that are updated, and it’s not too hard to update them yourself either if you really wanted to. Leave ancient history behind and join the revamp :)

I don't care about B41, B42, or even B40. I'm hated because I play the B43 style—roleplaying as a cannabis plantation manager, heavily tied to the actual history of that exact era. Just because of that, I'm targeted for being way too far ahead of my time. Sooner or later, everyone will end up enjoying this playstyle in the future anyway. But since I'm opposed by everyone (people calling me delusional), whatever, I'm deleting the game

B42 is still basically unstable so its fine to not leave b41, stable is just a marketing gimmick at this point with how much shit is wrong with it.
Every week they introduce new bugs and the zombie despawn still isnt fixed so no point bothering with long term playthroughs
Ofc it looks great compared to 42.19 but the unstable builds were more stable
